Boss 429 Mustang
Dodge Charger R/T (1969 - 440 Six Pack)

I would change the 440/6 to a 426 Hemi Charger. That car held the Road and Track 1/4 mile record for muscle cars!
1970 Ferrari Daytona 365 GTB4 would be MY choice.

When I was attending NGJC this guy named Rusty had an Avanti. It was a four passenger vehicle and that was crowding it. I was in a group that went out with him one Saturday night. Rusty ask us if we wanted to see what the Avanti would do. Like young fools we all said yes. We left campus and headed out on the foothill roads toward Greenville. I was sitting behind him and know for a fact that we hit over 100 mph many times, often on the wrong side of the road before we reached the main highway. I look back now and admire the Avanti for the brute it was and also thank GOD for protecting the young fools in it.

I am not rich, so I will be realistic based on my budget. I currently drive a VW Golf. I wanted a car that had a manual transmission, a sunroof and was a decent size. I would be really interested in a Golf R. A 911 with a manual would probably blow my balls off. A 2020 or so mustang GT350 would be awesome - but no sunroof.

The Honda made in the mid 1990s is going to be hard to beat but only one on your list remains operational today. The 300D Turbo along with the 300SD and SDL are the ##### of the walk, imo.

1954 red Jaguar roadster with wire rims. Junior High classmate drove one during '61 - 62 9th grade school year.
1949 Hudson Commodore I drove that year in addition to riding there with my nearby classmate who had a 1950 Studebaker sedan nicknamwd The Stud.
1938 Chevy 2 door sedan with floor mounted stick shift and a '48 motor with which I learned to drive.
In the mid 70s had a '74 Pinto Wagon with manual trans. One day after retrieving it from a Congaree Rd repair shop for routine work, it caught fire while starting across the Roper Mtn Rd bridge over 385 during rush hour.

81-85 SD/SDL class Benz. The om617 engine is good for a million miles. MB didn't make a bad om617 engine but they'd sell them to anyone. Those who changed filters (oil and fuel, transmission and PS) and flushed the brake systems are still driving those cars after 40 years.
Mine isn't a garage queen. I've had to restore the interior and am working toward a complete paint job on the body.
The only other engine ever produced which comes close is the slant six dodge, imo. I, personally, am a small block Chevy fan, particularly the 383 and 327 engines but none are still running now without extensive rebuilds.

Had a 63 chevy impala 2 door sport coupe. The engine was a 283ci. Turbofire rated at 195hp which was the first V8 option. Next small block option was the 327 with either 250 or 300 hp.

exclude the greatest American car of all time, the Duesenberg. Those things were so far ahead of their time, they could almost have come from another planet, engineering wise.
I'll give you the Corvette, but only from 1955 forward. Those six bangers the first two years in 1953-54 just don't excite me none atall too.
For being a culture unto itself, I go with the Volkswagen Beetle at No. 3. Adolph Hitler dubbed it "The People's Car", which is about the only thing old Adolph got right. I am quite sure Volkswagen would just as soon never be mentioned in the same library as him.
For No. 4, you pretty much have to go over the pond, and tab Rolls-Royce. The name alone is synonymous with "fine automobile". A Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost of just about any vintage will still fetch a pile of pennies.
For first Honorable Mention, do we go Classic, or Modern? Sorry kiddies, I prefer old iron. The incomparable Cadillac V-16, which made its debut in 1930. The Great Depression did its best to kill it off, but Cadillac kept a variant of the V-16 around through 1940. The 1930 version would get my vote.
Now, don't get me wrong, Lambo's, Porsches, Bugatti Veyrons, etc, are probably GREAT!. But, just like any female supermodel, I will never even get to test drive any of them, so they don't make my list.

Yep, is was featured on that segment of Jay Leno's Garage, where the Petersen Museum brought it out and let him drive it. (Is he a lucky stiff, or what?). They said it was so expensive, it sat for a whole year before it was finally sold, for, actually I think they said Twenty FIVE thousand dollars. But, "Twenty Grand" rolls off the lips so much better. $25,000 at a time when a Model T Ford was down to around ~$300.
Of course, there WERE some slight differences in the two cars!

I agree with the Duesenberg, my first Revell model car. I can still recall the smell of the glue.
Ford Bronco Wagon - late'60s model (1st generation)
1985 Ford F-150, and still on the road ">
My all time favorite is any car that runs, and is Paid For !!
