Since programs are burning scholarships on players from the transfer portal, it opens recruiting avenues for Clemson at the high school level. Let us be honest, the players in the portal are there for 1 of 2 primary reasons.

1. They want a quick pay day. Most programs are beginning to wise up on this type of player.

2. They were not good enough to earn playing time at their previous school. Most likely, the player was on the second team instead of starting.

Not only do we want to avoid players like that, but we would much rather recruit a 4-star or 5-star recruit from high school and develop them for their entire collegiate career. Prior to the transfer portal, the odds of Clemson landing players on our current roster were slim to none because of the competition in the SEC, B10, and B12. Now that those conferences host programs that rely on the portal to replace production, those 5-star recruits are not getting offers. If Clemson can establish a great NIL program, then Clemson will begin to win championships on a regular basis. This is mostly due to Clemson's ability to recruit the nation's top talent from high school and develop them into a true Clemson player that remains with the program for their entire collegiate careers. Also, Clemson is very selective in who they offer from high school, so an offer from Clemson will mean more to a young high school player.

I agree 100 percent hindsight not always 20/20 I wouldn’t mind a couple of transfers to add depth but loading a team up with transfers isn’t the right way to do it I agree with dabo ideals on the situation.
