not that it is us a a direct comparison, but in 1983 the Miami Hurricanes got spanked by Florida in their season opener by 28-3 then regrouped and won the national championship. The sky is still the limit. It is still there. The sun came up today like any other day.
We did not get spanked...yes it stung like a butt whoopin, but even with a sputtering offense we did not get our doors blown off. People around here are talking like we lost 30-0.
My only wish is that given our history of playing like dudds in our first game why do we keep scheduling these huge games right out of the gate? I wish we would schedule warm up games like so many of the other teams do. It would feel so much better to play like dirt and at least win anyway because we played a nobody.

Maybe we should tell our guys that half the game has already been played and there will be two 15 minute overtimes. Based on last year we could throw out most of our first half performances and the stats be significantly better.

it's become a trend vs DECENT or better teams
We are now 9-14 vs P5 teams w/ 8+ wins since 2021
8-6 in the ACC
1-8 in OOC games (assuming LSU goes on to win 8+ games)

Its a sports board. People talk about the good and bad. I dont agree w all the negative comments, but its ok discuss strengths and weaknesses with the program over past few years. Why have the board? No one says dissolve the team...they say fix the team.

Perhaps not. But starting with a weak team at least gives Clemson the chance to see the flaws and work on them for the next game. I don't mind starting with Georgia and LSU, but would rather start with Troy.

If we can get a UGA or LSU to play us mid-season, I'm fine with that. Just want to see some quality OOC regular season games at some point.

your first flying lesson was in an F-22?
If you had your way SpaceEx would have had all of their Starship launches to date to be manned operations?
You made your kids start baseball when they were 5 in fast pitch with the adults?
When you were a kid you skipped fishing off the dock for bluegills and went straight to standing waist deep and fly fishing the Alaskan rapids?
For sure your first shooting lesson was with a Barrett 50 cal, right?
You tried walking the highwire but started the first time crossing between the ill fated Twin Towers.
You ran the 400 meter dash with zero warm up.
When you have sex you just go straight to the deed with no kissing, foreplay, nothing, just wam bam.

Same deficiencies the last 4-5 years. Carousel of coaches with no real improvement. D was better than last year though, but still faded late. No big game performance by our hyped players. No in game coaching adjustments. No 4 quarter performance, Special teams issues, offense can’t find its way? Opening loss. 1-3 last 4 games against solid competition. That’s not winning to me.

We have to run the ball better. CJ has to do a better job at getting them ready. Even if we can't run the ball you have to call a run play in order to keep the defense honest. Nothing we don't already know. That would make a world of difference for Cade.

I can see the D falling off when the offense can't seem to get many first downs. You get gassed when you only get a couple of minutes and you're back on the field.

The D faded late? After giving up the TD to start the 4th quarter LSU got one 1st down on their next two drives and had to punt it away until taking a knee on the last possession. The D gave the offense every chance to tie or win it. All the other comments are spot on though.
