The offense is tempo and play calling

To make this clear
The problem I’m telling you is our tempo. That is the problem and I know it 100%
Whenever they speed things up for good, and they for some reason freakin’ stop being oblivious to what the Clemson offensive style is, then we will see success against elite defenses
Heed my word, until Riley does this, prepare to be disappointed. I swear I’m right.

We cannot block. How many times did you see a push by the O-line. Randall got the TD on his own.
All the play calling in the world cannot fix O-linemen with poor technique. They stand too upright which means they don’t have leverage.

High tempo changes everything
Negates certain issues like bad blocking
High tempo with quick underneath reads, the defense wouldn’t touch Cade. They wouldn’t have time to.
I think Garrett Riley is totally suited to downfield attacking, but it doesn’t just work against anybody. Georgia shi* on TCU when Riley was there. TCU put points up effortlessly all year until that game.
You have to be able to run the offense quickly while taking short routes.
This, and running the with the ball successfully, will then open up the downfield opportunities.
I’m spreading all these sentences out because I want people to carefully understand.
Because when they fix the problems, it will be by exactly what I just explained. That style of offense is the mold for Clemson.
That is what propelled Clemson into national relevance and then to dominance. The pure all out attack.

I still have visions when we had an offense that would run 80. sometimes 90 plays in a game. It was beautiful...all those 1st downs, all those fun and different play calls, all those opposing defensive players with hands on their hips. Ahhh...those were the days...don't wake me up!

I really miss our up tempo offense.

It gradually changed under Elliott to be slower and more methodical, perhaps because Tony’s personality is more cautious and calculated. The slower pace continued under Streeter, and has been maintained under Riley.
I don’t recall this ever being a talking point by Dabo, in terms of us intentionally slowing things down. But it is very noticeable - and detrimental.

It’s like Dabo has totally forgotten his young mindset, the truly hungry one.
You saw against Texas and South Carolina and even early in a game like SMU, the high tempo is what saves us from our issues.
He gets into these games like LSU, South Carolina (2024), etc. and he has leads and the defense is playing well, both defenses.
And he leans on the defense. It works barely against ACC teams, but SMU, SC, and LSU, have playmakers on offense that are inevitably going to make a play.
The big body receiver for LSU was almost inevitably catching a TD against man coverage. Questionable play call that close in the red zone to man AT on him, but nonetheless their offense is a good one too. Should’ve been attacking with a 10-3 lead and pushing it like a 2 minute offense.
Lanorris Sellers was bound to make a play. He’s a very good player.
SMU, we definitely slowed down and it wasn’t just Kevin Jennings. Their running backs shredded us, on and on.

Been complaining about the lack of tempo for years now…it’s killing us.
