The most important game in Clemson football history
Jun 7, 2021, 11:25 PM
|
|
We have won 2 of the last 4 national championships, but everyone still looks at us as weak because of our conference and schedule. We have lost by by double digits in the last 2 playoffs. Everyone is laughing at us, and writing us off as soft. They look at our conference and laugh at who we play. The opener with Georgia is the most important opener we have ever had. If we want to maintain any type of national respect WE HAVE TO WIN THIS GAME. We have everything to lose. We don't have another game on the schedule to make up if we lose. We cant rely on usuc to help our reputation because they fvckin suck as always. As a bigtime Clemson fan i have never been as nervous for a game as this one. Not only do we put our national reputation on the line, but we face one of the most trash and delusional fanbases in the counrty. They never want to acknowledge we have more national championships, but instead talk about the all time record. To put a beating on the bulldogs will not only put a stamp on our college football dominance, but also put one of the most garbage fanbases in check. Everyone give your support for one the most important college football games in Clemson history.

For the most part people are idiots and will say anything. How else was Biden elected?
This is not a must win. As long as the game is competative we will be in the playoff IF we win out and beat a highly ranked UNC team in the ACCCG

Nobody who knows a thing about college football thinks that Clemson is weak . Anybody using that narrative isn't being genuine or they're purely speaking out of ignorance . It is important that we beat UGA , but simply because it's the first game . Win the Opener .

Just because we have a relatively weak schedule doesn’t make this Jawja game the most important game ever

Oh yeah, you never see any non-genuine narratives on TigerNet! LOL!!
But yes, huge game for both programs. Not the "most important game in history" for either team, but it's big for both nonetheless. If Clemson loses, but wins out & wins the ACC-C, you are still almost surely in the CFP. Same with Georgia. So not really a "must win" for either, but certainly a big-time measuring stick for each. And what a way to kick off the season, no?

My biggest worry is that we seem to start slowly and get better, while GA is usually moving up the rankings early in the season.

It’s an important game of course. However, you don’t beat down Alabama during a season in which they supposedly had an unstoppable team, and then beat what was supposedly the best Ohio State team ever and then not get taken seriously. I guarantee you , no coach in America doesn’t think we aren’t a Top 4 team.
We could play a terrible game on the 4th of September and still be a really good football team. As could Georgia.
In the end, it’s a great attention grabbing grab for the country because of whose playing yet it probably has little to do with who wins the National Championship

This has alot to do with rhe national championship. 2 of the top 5 teams playing. 2 of the top 5 coaching staffs going against each other. 2 of the most passionate fanbases going agaisnt each other. 2 RIVALS going agaisnt each other in the first game of the season, with NO warm up. For me this is one of the most important games in Clemson football hhistory. We have to win. AND WE WIIL WIN

Outlaw, i respect your opinion but reality has to set in. This is our only game in 2021 to make a splash. Everything that we have worked hard for. Killing ND in playoff, killing Alabama in championship will all be forgotten if we lose to jawja. You know that. We need this win more than ever. Jawja can lose and still go to the payoff. We cant lose.

It's not even close to the most important game in CU history

Historically speaking, every game we've played in the CFP was more important than this UGA game. We can lose to UGA and still make the playoff unless UGA beats us and then goes 5-6 the rest of the year.

I know it sounds crazy. But the last 2 years, we lost bad on the biggest stage in college football. Everyone talks sh.t about our schedule. They make fun of because of who we play. (USUC included) for me this is the most important game in Clemson history. We have a top 5 matchup. The 2 team have all the respect of all college footbal fans. We have a chance to show that we can beat the best in the $EC. You know we need this.

At first I thought this was a Dabo "Why, we're just little ole Clemson" post. Then I got down to the language and name calling and breathed a sign of relief. It's unusual to find a post of such length so void of anything remotely true.
UGA fans not only acknowledge Clemson's success, we envy it. No UGA fan (or anyone else) thinks Clemson sucks because they are in the ACC. It is possible to simultaneously believe Clemson is one of the top two programs in the country and as a conference, the ACC is weak. No one is laughing at Clemson, writing-off Clemson, or thinks Clemson is soft. At worst Clemson will be preseason number 2 and the pick of many to win another NC. Just stop it.
UGA fans bring up Clemson's all time record vs the Dawgs for the same reasons Clemson fans bring up UGA's last NC or the 2019 loss to SC. Trash talk. If Clemson beats UGA the Dawgs will still own a dominating record over the Tigers. Don't take it so seriously. If you'll dial back a little of the animosity you seem to have for UGA, you'll be less nervous about this game and you might actually enjoy watching it.
Finally, on behalf of the entire Dawg-Nation, allow me to acknowledge Clemson has more national championships than Georgia.

Why do you sound so much like a delusional UGA fan posting as a "Clemson fan"?
Then again, maybe you're just delusional and in desperate need of validation from opposing (enemy) fans.

Here’s the real deal, once the season begins to play out one or two of the teams on our schedule besides UGA will end up being ranked & having a very good season plus we will play a good team in the ACC championship too.
We will play 2-4 ranked teams during the season. FSU will be ranked, North Carolina State will be ranked & possibly Wake Forest will be ranked.
We go through this every year the last 3-4 years where people say we play nobody but we always end up facing good teams or much better than preseason predictions.
Normally, 5-8 SEC teams are ranked every year at the beginning of the season & they are the toughest & most highly ranked but by week 7-9 all that falls apart, the ACC usually starts with 2-3 teams ranked but picks up another team or two as the season goes.
No single game determines any teams season. Their have only been two undefeated 15-0 teams in modern football. 2018 Tigers & 2019 Tigers & we played in both & won one.

Wrong! The '81 Neb. natty was. Why? Because we were getting ready to go on probation and would have been devastating to lose that game. We had that to hang our hat on forever. If we lose to Ga. in a close game and they continue a good year, we still can recover(it's an early game) and make the final four. Long season.

Probably more important for Georgia than Clemson
Jun 8, 2021, 11:14 AM
|
|
Still very important for us, but a competitive loss in this game and we still have a reasonable shot at winning the other 11, then the ACC championship, then qualifying for the CFP. With a loss, I would guess we still have a 25% chance of making the CFP.
With a loss, UGA has a virtual 0% chance. They would have to run the table, plus win the SECCG. AND they would have to pray for us to keep winning.
That said, let's whip up on them, and make sure they have zero chance.

I agree that if we win this game it sets us up nicely for a run at the playoffs; however a close loss doesn’t necessarily ensure we don't go either. At that point we are relying on other teams to lose, but a one loss conference champion can still make the playoffs and win a national championship. We have done that before.
