I do not understand why we continue to use Peter Woods in those short yardage situations. This is not the first game he did not do well running the ball. I remember back in 2016 when Lawrence and Wilkins went in to block for Gallman. Again, it was a disaster and we turned the ball over over on downs. We should just delete this jumbo package from the playbook.

I agree. The fact that Clemson has to have the jumbo package is an example of how soft Clemson football has gotten. Last night when the wine kicked in I was calling the team Charmin. Clemson has lost the ability to inflict their will on their opponents.

We have done that crap for a long time. Different RB coaches, different OL coaches, different OC. But there has been one constant coach. Hmmm

one last night Cade was supposed to pull it from Woods.
And of course Randall and other backs over the years sometimes get stopped in short yardage too.

Our offense grade is a flat out F. Maybe an F-. We throw the same weak handed bubble screens more than a middle school team. There is no imagination. Is it a product of poor coaching which so many have said, or the inability/incompetence of the players? Watched UL run a beautiful play near the goal line with all motion going left only for the qb to toss to a reversing back who lobbed a pass to a wide open TE for the score. There wasn’t a defensive player in view on my tv screen when he caught it. This team continues to battle but coaching across the board seems more than suspect and has all season. And for the love of all things Holy, just stop running PoWo. We have a 230 lb back, remember!!!????

Randall played great. The OL was improved. Dropped passes were ridiculous. I like Cade in spite of the fumbles. He cares. The defense gets credit for forcing long field goal attempts. Brown played great. But we just couldn’t stop that running back. The team showed a lot of maturity against a good Louisville team. Coaching was better in my humble opinion. But…the receivers and defensive backs need something more.

I agree with you except for the coaching or more specifically the play calling is still without any imagination or creativity and we do NOT need for Cade to end up with the ball with no where to go. Hand the ball off to Randall and get out of the way. Cade did have some great passes for first downs that were dropped and that was ugly to watch even if some were low. All I can say is thank you Louisville for lack of self control when in field goal range and also for those kicking issues. Two big issues for Louisville that cost them the game but that's college football!

do our coaches believe that the so-called jumbo package is the best play or do they believe it’s entertainment that fans enjoy? it’s an insult to the offensive players and i doubt the majority of fans enjoy seeing it, especially when the game is close. please stop using this disgusting play!

Grades are a C, B, and D with a road win over a top twenty, 7-2 team by a Clemson team with a losing record. Geez! I thought the goal was winning.

Happy we won ..and we won despite the poor coaching and play calls. We were lucky the Louisville kickers were unlucky .. major changes in coaching and adapting to today's game are still a must - to compete again in the ACC and on the national level … we’re 5-5 ..

Adapting to todays game?

I assume that’s the pOrTal and NIL?
We haven’t had to use the portal because we’ve had the best retention in the country. We haven’t had openings for starters, and we don’t kick guys off the team to take a chance on a portal guy. You do know we’ve used the postal when we needed to and will use it much more this year because we will have to. Teams taking in transfers have been doing it because they have to (due to transfers out). You may me better and you may be worse because of the changes. The portal doesn’t guarantee you’re getting better. That’s the misnomer. But rest easy, we will have to use it this year. Doesn’t automatically mean we will be better because of it. So, we have been looking in the portal for 4 years. Tried to get some OL before breaking through this past off season for Heldt, Smith, and Alexander.
And NIL - one of the better programs in the country.
Is that what you mean by adapt to today’s game?

We gave scholarships to young men that had no business using scholarships for a P4 program. Dabo thought that he could succeed despite putting himself at a disadvantage. His loyalty is great and the values that he has instilled in the young men on the team are the reason they are still giving 110% when there is little to play for other than pride and those values. However, this is a disservice to the young men that came here with a vision of playing on an elite football team.
We had much more to offer than most other programs and we were only able to find 3 transfers that could help the program in the transfer portal era? We haven't had transfers because Dabo thought that they could do it without them, not because we couldn't attract young men to the program. Offering a few young men in the portal and saying "Well, we tried." doesn't cut it.
I think that Dabo is learning that, just because he is a great coach, that he is not so great that he could handcuff himself against other great programs. It is a shame that there are still some that have not learned that lesson.

Good point and goal is winning. Concern from everyone on how bad we r playing. Even horrible announcers (who mis identified our players constantly) admitted we were loaded with NFL talent but playing disorganized and under achieving. Vaunted D line consistently gashed on runs and 1 sack all night…yada yada yada…bottom line, ugly or not, just win baby…Go Tigers

I believe Special Teams deserve a passing grade. Other than an out of character poor snap on the punt, the kicking game was solid (won the game for us, lost the game for them). I actually now have faith in the field goal unit. Go Tigers.

Not 1 word was written about Clemson punter in the offseason. Well I’m not sure the need to punt so often was ever a concern until after noticing what the offense would have trouble doing. The offseason prep seems to not have worked. From the beginning the offense was lost. Blocking, catching, ball security, all issues during year. So yes, maybe the punter should be focal point going forward. Next year send the punter to the ACC meetings and represent the Tigers.
Last night though, he crushed it with kick after kick positioned perfectly. In was truly an incredible game for him. Deserves a game ball for consistently putting Lville inside the 20 and having to earn a whole field. Defense played well enough given Lville had to go full lengths many times and were held.
Go Clemson. Go punt team including long snapper. Very well done. Now all other phases, get it together and play 60 minutes of solid football and figure this thing out. As David said, complementary football. Better late than never 👏👏👏💯
Go Tigers!!

Over and over this year they try to get cute on the goal line. Once again no jet sweeps or RB runs outside. This offense is so easy to defend.

The grade of D for coaching was charitable; I feel bad for some of these players

Coaches talk about overcoming adversity and showing heart; it's a shame that much of the adversity is asinine play calling by their own coaches. Our red zone execution and play calling was especially disappointing. EVERY win is a great win but this one was sloppy and lucky.

Spot on. Moore, Cade, Randall, Davidson, Bentacur, Williams…the skill is unreal. All will play in the NFL and we ran screen after screen behind the sticks and tried to run Woods instead of Davidson or Randall (if he was gassed or something). Riley has lost his mind. Thank goodness Allen seems to be finding his way on defense.

I must’ve been watching a different football game because I thought the entire offense, special teams, defense and especially coaching…. it all sucked!!!!! It was a “comedy of errors”…. It was like watching the Laurel and Hardy football Boot Camp….. It was so hard to watch that game ….mistake after mistake after error after mistake after error after mistake….. and it just continued the entire game!!!!!! Play calling sucked absolutely …it was terrible coaching in general and was subpar to say the least…. what the #### are our coaches doing? What the #### are they thinking? I think at least half the coaching staff needs to be replaced. To be honest towards that game after so many mistakes and so many errors, I started thinking towards the end of the game….well we don’t deserve to win this game…we don’t deserve to go to a bowl game!!!!! It was absolutely terrible!!!!!!

Everyone got bad grades aside from the defense. I think the D played alright, maybe a C+ is more like it. There are a lot of errors in a C+ or B-.

These grades are very generous. Nothing we did won the game. Louisville lost the game and gave it to us with three missed kicks and numerous personal foul penalties. As far as coaching is concerned, we are paying top dollar for an OC that has not improved our offense one bit since taking the job and continues to baffle everyone with his play calling. I can say the same thing regarding the DC, but I will give him a little bit of a pass as it is his first year. The OC has been on staff for years, no excuse. I think it is time to move on with a new OC.

Tiger bashing? Have you even been watching any of this year's games. The grading and the objective criticisms are not only warranted but needed to make sure we Tiger Fans are fair and honest in the evaluation of what we are seeing on the field. This team could have been great but no, something is wrong and expectations were much too high. I see 3 things that most of Tigernet commenters have noted you and others: Defensive line is weak and just bad, defensive backs are not trusted to play man so we play a soft zone and that hurts any defense, and third, the play calling sucks and has been Jr High quality since we got this high flying OC. Must identify a problem correctly to ever expect to correct it.

I give the players an A for heart and effort. I give the coaching staff a C on defense and an F on offense. Is anybody teaching our wide receivers how to catch a football, lol! We had help from Louisville, but it's great to catch some breaks and get a win. Go Tigers!

The offensive coaching was horrible and the Tristan Smith, and I love that kid’s heart, dropped critical passes. Cade played fantastic given what he had to work with (bizarre play calls and drops). I thought the defensive ends were rarely in position and that’s what lead to so many big runs. They don’t rush at the passer, they try and take big outside loops which opens massive holes. Parker, especially…he tries to rush in a loop using his speed. They hand the ball off and he’s no where near the play. Overall great defensive effort though and a much needed win.

O-D+ D-C- ST-B
O-horrific play calling…sporadic good/bad running, some very good/poor passing at least 5 dropped passes??? Not withstanding the botched pitch that was called inc pass (one of the few times ACC replay has actually helped us) Cade running backward escaping pressure still…throwing away when receivers are clear (3x?) throwing to a near rcvr usually short of sticks when several times there was another deeper/deep enough and missed so he didn’t have a good day. Heavy pkg success goes at least back to the 70s with the fridge… but it gets mixed results especially when pwoo tries to jump the pile instead of running through it?????! When we played great I noticed a bad trend that didn’t hurt us but now, poor clock mgmt is driving me nuts. Half and end game are sooooo bad. But some of that is play calling too. I know our Oline is up/down but I wish (esp since he’s still recovering) Cade wouldn’t run except for scrambles and we would use our 3/4 very talented RBs more. D is still poor except when it’s very good. Great run D except when our alignment gets bent…poor tackling has reared its head again. Feel a little bad for Barnes who got trucked twice by an rb that was smaller??? (Could be wrong). Just very poor technique almost everywhere. Thank you Lord for mistakes by the other team!! ST wasn’t bad except when it was…poor snap and a shanked punt but mostly not too bad at all.
I’m going to have to calm my emotions and recalibrate my frustrations for the last couple of games.
Some really impressive stats for us…let’s get back to setting more records!!!
A win’s a win!
Go Tigers!!
