Mid 1970's Clemson memory.

When I was at Clemson, the legal drinking age was 18. I remember a beer run to what then was a local Giant Food World. Next to the actual name brand beers on the shelf, there were six packs of plain (and I do mean plain) white 12 oz cans with just 3 words on them in black block letters.
GIANT FOOD BEER
Never had the guts to try it, but I remember a whole case selling for what a six pack of PBR's or Budweiser was at the time. Does anyone else remember these, and if you tried them, what brain damage resulted?

No memory of that at all and I graduated in 76. So maybe they ruined my memory.

I don't remember that but do remember driving to state line liquor in GA since their drinking age was 18 for everything (when I was at Clemson late 70's early 80's liquor was 21 but beer and wine were 18).
Also remember - kind of Bengal Ball with beer trucks with spigots on the side and unlimited refills. Amazing I can remember anything at after losing those brain cells.

In the late 80’s their was a plan to drink a 6 pack of good beer, the first 2 per person and then we went to the beer of champion Milwaukee’s Best LITE. After a couple we couldn’t taste the difference if they were real cold and you drank them quick.
A case of Milwaukee’s Best Lite would go on sale for $7.99-8.99!!

I started in 79. I remember after class on Friday we would go to Red's Quick Stop (I think that was the name) and buy a very cheap case of cold Busch beer in the drive through. You didn't even have to get out of the car. I drank quite a few of those beers back in the day!

Started Clemson in '79, and my beer of choice was Stroh's Beer. Had a Stroh's Beer light hanging in my room in Johnstone E section. Great memories! GO TIGERS!!!

I was there from 77 - 81. I fondly remember on Friday around 5 a group from our hall would grab a dollar and head to Tiger Town Tavern. They had $1 pitchers 5 - 7.

I went 77-81. There was a store at Hwy 76 and 93 that sold long neck Buds in returnable bottles for $7 a case in 1980. Went to summer school, worked the Census and kept Buds in the frig that summer. Good times.

Karen Bergendorff, I was there at the same time. think she's head of her own capital finance group in Chicago now. She'd be about 58. Knew her a little bit, very nice.

He lives in Simpsonville.
I was there '78 - '82 but never made Bengal Ball because it conflicted with Dixie Day (where APO was the "officials").
Good times.

No, it actually looked just like the can Rex123 posted, except it also had GIANT and FOOD above the word BEER. Or, maybe not. It was 40+ years ago, after all.
