In all honesty - I wish Trump would not announce at all
Nov 8, 2022, 4:42 AM

I'm all for a lot of the former Trump administrations policies (particularly economic, energy, trade, border, Government regulation reduction, and America First foreign policy) but I'm exhausted by the man's 2020 election carnival barking, undisciplined political timing, and absolute inability to put his ego on a back burner for even a second.
If DeSantis ends up running against Trump in 2024, DeSantis will get my vote...

He had no policies according to the people that worked with him. He was just some idiot who found other idiots to worship him. He did nothing. Maybe not doing anything is good. Maybe the gov should back off. That said, Trump is an idiot and a fraud. Case closed.

I think any intellectually honest discussion is based on

facts and not emotion. To flippantly say that Trump had no policies and was an idiot is an emotional response based on hatred for the man and not a clear eyed look at the facts. Like all Presidents, Trump had defined policy goals and his administration worked to implement most of those goals. If it were otherwise the Democrats would not have been screaming bloody murder every time Trump signed an EO or attempted to pass a law.
Whether the actual written policies that were ultimately implemented in Trump's executive orders, executive branch regulations, or signed into law came out of Trump's mouth or were created by people that worked in his Administration is arguable but also irrelevant - it was all Trump Administration policy and Trump owns it.
It is no different with President Biden - anything coming out of Biden's White House is in fact Biden's policy whether he developed it or not. Do you seriously think Joe Biden is personally dictating all the garbage that is in his EO's, executive branch regulations and proposed laws? Most assuredly not but it is all Joe Biden's policy.

He had bo policies according to the people that worked with him. He was a trainwrwck. He was just winging and a product of the situation of the country. He melted down. That's who he was.

The people in DJT's cabinet were largely bureaucrats who made their careers out of the crony capitalist 'legacy Republican' political system.
(The Democrats have gotten better at crony capitalism than the Democrats, but that's off topic for the OP's subject.)
The 'legacy Republicans' hated DJT because he was a huge threat to their crooked careers. To make matters more dangerous, if there was a widespread investigation followed by an honest law enforcement regime, then the crooked DJT cabinet members who were (and are) aligned with the 'legacy Republicans' might also end up in prison.
So OF COURSE these guys who 'worked with Trump' did (and still do) everything possible to smear him.
But feel free to take the advice of those who say "pay no attention to that man behind the curtain" ... your ignorance = their power.

Agree completely that it would be bad for everyone if Trump announced a 2024 campaign any time soon.
The frustration about Trump is that his persona and competitiveness drive him to make impulsive comments and written comments, many of which are stupid.
His policies and governance were actually quite good, as even his public detractors admit in private.
Announcing a presidential run ... on the heels of his fine work in supporting good candidates throughout Federal level and State level elections ... would be selfish and therefore stupid.
Let's hope that he can restrain himself and instead applaud the victories of his endorsed candidates.
