Is someone I normally ignore, but this comment from this morning (from McElroy and Cubelic’s show) is just flat out wrong:
“For all their football prowess, and they are the last two ACC teams to win a national championship, they don’t offer very much in anything,” Finebaum claimed. “Clemson is inferior to South Carolina as an academic institution, and then you have the same situation with Florida State. They are behind the other state schools as well as private schools in Florida, so I don’t think either one of them has much to offer, and quite frankly, I’m not sure why the Big Ten would want either one of them.”

USC has very high admission standards. The prospective student must be able to fog a mirror. Even if there were a sliver of truth in it, which there isn't, when did he graduate from being a shameless homer sports gasbag to being an academic qualfications expert? Plus, USC does not compare favorably with any of the other "flagship universities of" other Southern states, much less nationwide. WAY behind UVA, UNC, U of Texas, U of Florida, even UGA. I have a graduate degree from Carolina and wouldn't mind bragging if there were something to brag about, but there isn't.

Not sure how he thinks we are inferior to usc academically, unless just the scope of how many majors they offer. I don't recall an academic list in the last 20 years that we were below them. Our diploma has more value and we accept slightly higher level students.

The standards for admission for being admitted to Clemson are very high and the rankings reflect that. I promise you that if you ignore Finebaum, ESPN, podcasts and people paid to talk, you will be happier.

If you are of my generation, the same BS came from newspaper sports writers. Their writings drew readers which sold papers. That ESPN talking head is no different. His BlahBlah just draws listeners/readers, which then causes more blood pressure meds to be sold. It’s a racket.

Our child is a HS junior. Her senior friends who were bridged into Clemson were regular admits at UofSC. We're talking kids with B averages and few if any AP/DC courses, and average SAT/ACTs.
All are good kids. But not all are good *Clemson* caliber kids.
