They have the ability and the market presence to sell their TV scraps for extra money. Good for them. Every team in the BigXII has that opportunity. In the ACC you let Swofford and Raycom do that for you then split the money evenly.

deal with. Texas is able to make that much money not b/c of the athletic programs they develop, but by the population and size of the state they are located in. Is it fair that simply b/c they are in the heart of Texas and the flagship school of the state they can make so much more than Iowa St or Kansas? If you think so than that's fine, but a lot of people have a problem with that. To me, esp in amateur athletics, that is too much of an unfair playing field in a situation where there is pretty much nothing most of the other Big 12 schools could do to earn the same payout. I'd be fine if every school had a legitimate chance to earn the same but fail to do so, but in this case that is not reality.

Its one thing to be hamstrung against OOC schools

Its another thing to be at a competitive disadvantage to a team you are playing for a conference championship.
Could you imagine the outrage on here if there was a TarHeelNetwork? But yet seemingly the majority of folks here want us to move to a situation just like that.

but from a perspective that lends only a superficial view.
The ACC is financially hamstrung relative to every other FBS conference except the Big East. We should be competitive with them throughout the years of our present contract.

I don't care what Texas makes. I care about what Clemson makes, and they're not making enough to compete with even South Carolina in our own state.

the dust by your in-state rival (and every other SEC, Big 12 and Big Ten school)?
Keep in mind that the Big 12 is already $2.9M ahead with only 10 schools - if they expand, the figures you up (perhaps dramatically). It's no stretch to say that if FSU and Clemson went to the Big 12, they would each make about $6-7M more annually. Short of adding ND, the ACC is stuck at $17M per school. There is no other school to add (Penn State is not leaving the gold mine of the Big Ten, folks) that will change these figures. Over a ten year period, Clemson could make $75-100M less than schools in other conferences (and this doesn't even take into account the potential revenue split from a playoff).

Texas makes all that extra money and still can't beat K-State.
The thing everyone seems to forget is that even with all the cash, they still only get one vote in the conference, and they still only get 85 football scholarships.
