Teams with a bye are 0-3 in the playoff

Looks like going almost a month without playing a game isn't all that helpful. Notre Dame opened as an underdog vs. Georgia, but they're now a 1-point favorite. If ND does win, the final 4 teams will be #5, #6, #7, and #8. Expect the playoff format to change soon, maybe even next year.

The change will be conference champs won't automatically get to be 1,2,3,4.***

I absolutely hate that…. This means every year the top four will be Big Ten and SEC teams

Almost feels like major-league baseball wildcard round.

I'd pull for Hitler and the SS before I'd pull for ND.

Yes, any SEC team would be my favorite in that game. I'd pull for Ohio State and South Carolina first.
I don't care how much you hate UGA, USCe, Bama or NC...my hate for ND is greater than all your hate combined.
Give me the terrorist and I'll give you ND and two scores.

I'm no Domer fan either, but I can't hate them more than the SEC. Maybe back when Granny was there, or WAY back when Ara Parseghian was there, because I just thought he was flat out arrogant.
I DO despise the fact that Notre Dame gets treated like a franchise, and gets preferred treatment every single time a new CFP format is even discussed. The ACC should have forced their hand years ago.

I don't believe a change will happen until expansion is included.

The people who make playoff decisions are probably really happy with their conference participation rate. It only takes one conference to shut the talks down. The ACC is delighted to have two PO spots and the money which attends.
Philips would shut the talks down if the format doesn't suit him.

I can absolutely see where being off a month could be a disadvantage versus someone who just played a week ago. Seems like the bye teams all got off to slow starts and that could be the common denominator.

all 3 of those teams were underdogs and two of them were really big underdogs (around 2 TDs). Boise and ASU were both extremely likely to lose.
If you want to make a case for the teams with byes underperforming I'd probably recommend comparing their performance to the point spread. Boise failed to cover by about 4 pts I think. ASU easily covered by around 2 TDs in regulation and still by around 6 pts overall. Oregon underperformed by the most, falling about 17 pts shy of the number. We will see how Georgia does tonight. They are currently a 1pt dog with the line continuing to slowly move in NDs favor.
This is way too small of a sample size though. It would probably take close to 5 years (20 games) worth of data before you could begin to draw any meaningful conclusions.

That game either way even though ASU made it a game. I think that’s more Ewers plays timing in long stretches of a game though
