Still think having 12 teams in CFP is bad idea!

Maybe 8 which would get all the major conferences in plus couple.
Liked the top 4 format which as Dabo said was a strong incentive for every team to win every game they played but those teams ranked #5 & 6 & 7 cried out injustice.
Later it will be teams #13, 14 & 15 that will complain.
Dat Boy is smart and knew that the transfer system without constraint & fair rules and the NIL & the bad outside $ would destroy college football..
and it has and the full truth in a few years is gonna bring a lot of tears.
Oh, the NCAA is useless & weak & bias & corrupt!

about Skanky and the greedy basturds of the SEC...they pushed for 12, with the hope of the SEC getting 5 or 6 teams in most years! Even with 12 teams, there should be a max of 3 teams per conference, but Skanky and crew would've never agreed to that!

Of course Sankey wouldn't agree to limit the number of SEC team that could make the playoff. Why would a commissioner from any conference agree to that?

Yep, I like 8, 5 conference champs plus 3 at large. That way conference championships mean something and it helps somewhat the media bias of saying a conference is weak and should not be represented. Like you LBB I am fine with 4 and even 6 works for me, 5 conference champs and 1 at large.

I was fine with 4. We did 4 because some years (2011 for one) the argument between 2 and 3 was too close and you couldnt be sure. We added team 4 for good measure and that is plenty. I dont ever remember a time in CFB where we looked at teams 5-12 and thought they could win the championship but here we are anyway. Making that top 4 was special. Now someone finishing 12th gets to put up a CFP banner in their stadium...... 12th. The 6 hanging in our stadium were much more difficult to earn. Sigh

And determining the best team in college football should be the goal, which the top 4 does quite adequately. Nobody can point to a team ranked 5-12 and make any serious claim that they were the best team that year. This is about making money more than anything else, which is fine but lets not pretend theres any other reason.
