Clemson offensive coordinator Tony Elliott returned from a trip to Charlottesville on Thursday evening with no decision made on the Virginia head football coaching job. Several published reports say the negotiations hit a snag during the trip.
Elliott told the assembled media at the Clemson airport on his return that there was "No decision yet."
When asked if that was his decision, he said, "It's my decision."
When asked if there were any other jobs he was considering, he said, "None that you don't already know about."

His heart wants to stay in Clemson, but his head it telling him to go to UVA.
I bet he will talk to Dabo and pray about it and get back to UVA, and take the job!
Great opportunity for Tony. Great place to recruit, and if he wins 7 or 8 games a year, he is a hero.
If he wins the division, they will give him an extension. Expectations are lower at UVA.

I agree. He won’t take a job if can’t do it his way. He has the greatest assistant job in the country and is well paid.

It was supposedly Tony Elliott’s decision to have 13 commits in mid-December as opposed Dabos to 12 . Combine that with the 1st and goal on the 4 versus Georgia play calling, add however many ever zeros you have too to keep T.E. in Tiger Town!

He may not be the best play caller that we've ever had, but he is a good coach, and I'm betting that he doesn't want to leave his school at a bad time with BV leaving. If that's the case, I totally respect him for that!!!

If after spending almost 24 hours with UVA and he's still not sure if he wants to accept the job then it is probably not the right fit. He may take it anyway, but one would think if everything was the right fit he would not have gotten on that plane without committing to them. Looks to me like Elliott has some doubts with something in the UVA offer and his gut is telling him to turn the job down.

My “sources” at UVA are saying they
Lack facilities and willingness to pony up for expanding support staff TE wants to be successful.
IF this is true, I wouldn’t take it either. He probably asked for x-y-z and was told you will get x and a little y. That’s it, take it or leave it.

At this point Dabo's patience will wear thin. I would bet he is given a deadline by Swinney. You are either going for staying. It already looks like you are looking to leave. Recruits and other coaches are going to use this against Clemson. So I think 8f the offer is there he has to take it. I really dont think you can go back now. It was an adult decision to interview and make it a family interview. So now the adult thing to do is move on.

Just my thought but Tony likes to wear his faith for others to see and Virginia is a place that may not tolerate that since they have become very progressive and liberal. Tony will not accept any job in my opinion that does not allow him to express his faith.

Why is it BS? When they all talk about ‘culture’ and ‘family’ at CU don’t you think Faith is interwoven? All the coaches and many of the players (TL) wear that on their sleeve. It matters. UVA is in Charlottesville, not Lynchburg.

UVA doesn’t want to upgrade facilities or pay good $$ to assistants. He knows first hand what a good admin looks and acts like. Poor guy, stock went down so low this year its kind of a shame. If he does stay here, he knows full well how important preseason evals are now. I trust we won’t ever take the field with a QB who can’t do a single thing properly.

UVA's negotiations with Anthony Poindexter came to an abrupt halt, and now Elliott returns home with no agreement. It's all speculation at this point, but one has to wonder what Virigina is bringing to the table that might be a deal breaker.
