Another way to look at it, their basketball team is terrible.

If true, then what does that say about your football coach- since we have thoroughly beaten y'all the last four years with inferior talent?
I'd be pretty pissed if I were you.

You do realize that before your current little streak of 4

that we had won 6 of 7 and 4 in a row from 02-05. Even with your current streak, you're still only 5-6 in the last 11.

I have it on fairly good authority that South Carolina will get the death penalty in football if there is another major infraction in the next three years.
The NCAA had apparently decided not to ever do that again, after the damage it did to Kentucky basketball and SMU football. But people just despise Spurrier too much. And South Carolina fans are very, very annoying.

You don't have anything on any authority. You are simply lying
The sanctions given to SC for the administrative violtion were basically a hard slap on the wrist.
The NCAA PRAISED SC for their openness, cooperation, and working to handle the administrative shortcomings. The NCAA said that the way SC handled the problems were a case book study in how to cooperate and work to find a solution with the NCAA.
SC was commended by the NCAA for their actions after the violations.
You are making stuff up.

The Committee agreed the penalties self-imposed by the University in its response to the Notice of Allegations were appropriate. The Committee's decision states: "The committee decided not to impose more stringent sanctions in this case, including a postseason ban because: i) the cooperation exhibited by the institution went beyond its obligations under [NCAA Bylaws]; ii) the violations were limited in scope; iii) the institution self-imposed significant penalties and; iv) there was no unethical conduct in this case."
The Associated Press Last Updated - April 27, 2012 2:18 GMT Contact | Archive | RSS COLUMBIA, S.C. – The NCAA has ruled that South Carolina failed to monitor its athletic program and has accepted the school’s proposed sanctions to cut six football scholarships the next three years and slash its official recruiting visits by more than half.
There were no forfeiture of games or bowl ban attached the penalties which stemmed from athletes receiving $59,000 in impermissible benefits. The NCAA said South Carolina’s cooperation went ”beyond standard expectations.”

I'm sorry, my young and uninformed friend. But you really do not understand college athletics or the NCAA.
Three years is a long probation period. Minor violations do not result in more than a year of probation and do not cost scholarships. Three years of probation and the loss of scholarships is only the result of major violations.
Schools that commit a major infraction while on probation are eligible for the NCAA death penalty. While this has only been applied three times, it is applicable to SC should they get caught again within the next few years.
Once or twice per year, I end up having dinner with one or two faculty reps. My interpretation from those dinner discussions is that SC is a prime candidate to be made an example of. It may not be fair, but SC is likely to receive far harsher penalties than PSU or USC on the next infraction.

Not really seeing where aside from opposing teams fans where spurrier is despised by the ncaa. Nice try though I guess.

I thought what I wrote was pretty plainly written. It's people who don't like Spurrier. He's the Donald Trump of football - a spectacle that people enjoy watching, but a tool nonetheless.

So.....
Mar 4, 2013, 9:47 PM
|

So the "people" not liking spurrier has influence over the ncaa giving them the death penalty over teams like USC, Ohio state, Miami, penn state.... given the huge infraction they had. I'm not seeing that hold much water.

OK, a little lesson or you, maybe? None of the teams you mention were repeat offenders under NCAA regulation. That is, they were not on probation when the latest incidents occurred. Of course some of them have been on probation before - USC I believe ranks 1st in years on probation while SCU ranks 8th or 9th.

It's sad that some of us still bring up 63-17 ... it was 10 years ago!
Scar beat us 56-20 back in the 70's but you rarely hear that brought up.
Time to move past 63-17's and history lessons and grow up, guys!
P.S. Does anybody have a pic of Alshon teabagging our DB in the endzone of the '11 defeat? I'm a big fan of teabagging, so I was just wondering. I want to make it my profile pic and desktop wallpaper.
TIA
