Anybody with a smigion of common sense and intelligence can see what is happening on that field. Clemson looks like a bunch of dead corpses out there. 7-0 score favoring Troy before I could get a nice drink and watch early in the first quarter. The Head Coach solely responsible for this demise of a program. Dabo Swinney must be given his walking papers. 2012-2019 is gone. It is the future of Clemson Football that’s at stake here, not a walk down memory lane.

Dabo was talking about the playoffs. At this rate we will be lucky to win 8 games.
We better get a lot better this week in practice. Troy moved up and down the field at will. That's Troy! Not even GA Tech.
The play-calling in the first half was abysmal. The WRs could not get open. Against Troy! A pass play was called on first down from the 7 yard line. Against Troy. We gave them a TD. That was Troy we were scared to run against.

There would be no program without Dabo. Clemson was in the middle of mediocrity for 20 years before he took over. We have an awful lot of spoiled fans. Clemson won the conference last year and then 3 years ago and so forth. Clemson's still winning the ACC which by the way guarantees a spot in the playoff. This has been a rough start. I think Clemson fought a hard opponent in week one in LSU, and came out a little hung over from the loss in week two. Some of these fans complaining are the same ones who are complaining in 2016 in the first five games, what's wrong with Deshaun, and Clemson isn't very good! People got to show some patience. And maybe Clemson isn't very good this year, it's only game two we don't know. But I'd like to know who do you guys think out there is out there that is going to come in and be better than Dabo? Seriously?

We won the ACC last year and although I am not happy with the results, there is absolutely no reason why his seat should even be warm. We don't have the money for the buyout and we won't be spending the money on the NIL. You have a better chance of winning Lotto than you do of Dabo being fired.

Granted that is far short of the 5 years previous to that, but you have to go back to the 80's to find a comparable stretch to our last 5. Very few people are happy with the last 5 years, but that speaks to how good we were (also under Dabo) previously to that.
Dabo's biggest problem is that he is resistant to change. And with the acceleration of the transfer portal and NIL, college football has changed more over the last 5 years than any time in its history. He has begun to change, though. He has hired coaches from outside of the Clemson family, letting Clemson guys go in the process. The results have been underwhelming so far, but Riley, Luke and Allen all seemed to be homerun hires at the time. He also brought in transfers that are going to play impactful snaps this year.
I'm skeptical that Dabo, will ever get us back to elite status, but I was also skeptical when he was hired. He is going to have to reinvent himself quicker than the speed that the game is changing and I am not sure that he will. At the same time, he has earned the right to try. Especially, considering that nobody that we can hire has even been as successful as Dabo in the last 5 years. Sorry, but Saben, Day, Smart and Lanning are not coming to Clemson. Anybody else has as many if not more question marks over that stretch, without the previous success to fall back on.
I understand that you are frustrated, but if you are going to make the argument come up with an alternative, explain why they would be available, and state why you think they would be better than Dabo. Otherwise, after review the coach on the field is upheld.

Not true … he added some RELEVANT players from the portal in the offseason.
I’ll take Dabo over any coach out there. Only one coach will be at the top of the mountain each year and he’s been there twice.
And the rest of the time he’s building graduates and men of good character. I’ll take that EVERY SINGLE TIME!

I would say that he has been reluctant to do things differently than he did 10 years ago. He fired 3 Clemson men to bring in Riley, Luke and Allen. Regardless, of the success or lack thereof, all 3 appeared to be great hires at the time. They may still prove to be. We also have 3 players that came from the portal that will likely play meaningful snaps this year. Maybe they will make a difference or maybe they won't but he has made the effort.
I'm not saying that he will change fast enough to keep up, but to say that he is doing things the same as he was 10 years ago simply wouldn't be accurate.

You forget the average age of fans on this board is like 76. They are very reluctant to have any change because uncertainty scares them. It's one of the reason the state of South Carolina does so poorly in most things, because the old guard is set in their ways. They are terrified that a bad coaching pick will lead to the West years, and they'd rather blow money on Dabo and stay on the periphery of relevance than risk it. Risks are a young man's game.

Regarding the portal… I want a coach that values his players and sticks by them. FSU bought a whole new team a couple of years ago and then fell flat on their faces the following year. And then their coach fired all the coaches while he kept “his” job.
I’ll thankfully keep Dabo, an intelligent, loyal coach who runs a quality program we can be proud of.

He has won 3 Conference Championships in the last 5 Years. He hasn’t won a national championship in the last five years but neither has anyone else in college football. Who can you compare him to? Who is a better coach that we could immediately replace him with? What most people fail to understand is that in firing Dabo, we send a clear message to qualified coaches to steer clear of Clemson. Notice, several coaches avoided Alabama. Whenever Dabo leaves, retires, or gets fired we may never see this level of success again in our lifetime. Expect a drought for about 30 years once he is gone. While I’m upset with how this season is starting out, I know for certain that Coach Swinney has never failed at anything he’s attempted at Clemson. Also, I know that he makes calculated decisions which often take time to develop but end up paying off in dividends. Running a guy off over a bad half of football against Troy is a bit overkill. Who does need to be closely evaluated is Garrett Riley, CJ Spiller, and Tyler Grisham. Those three are well paid and have had three seasons to produce top quality players and have failed to deliver.

We need people with COACHING backgrounds. When you can't do anything against a team like TROY

His last 3 hires are Riley, Luke and Allen. None played for Clemson. The pedigrees of all 3 were fantastic when hired. Maybe Riley's seat should be on fire, but the only argument I heard at the time was that he would leave for a head coaching position within a few years.

He didn't exactly do nothing. We didn't have losing seasons. Sure, we didn't win the national title but who does every year?? We were not in contention for the national title several years, but who does that every year?? Perhaps one or two teams, but even then you make a coaching change and suddenly you're Alabama losing to FSU.
This does not mean I'm thrilled with the job Dabo's been doing but he is so far from the hot seat it's ridiculous.
