The most common excuses I see here are:
-NIL
-Transfer portal
-Officiating
-Injuries
-Changing coordinators
-Not enough fans on the hill
-No balloons
-Media members being mean to Dabo
-Anti-Clemson conspiracy theories
Did I leave anything out?
I need more ideas for Clemson basketball, since basic explanations such as poor program funding and lousy fan support don’t seem to resonate with many of you.

We didn’t have the personnel we needed and didn’t play very well and there was some poor game planning coaching along the way. Although 2 bad years out of 12 is different than 10 years out of 12. Basketball is easy95% of our issues are our head coach. Brad Brownell is not a good Clemson Men’s Basketball Coach. He is a good man and may be successful somewhere else. But he’s made Clemson’s basketball not fun to watch.

Plus, we have what some consider to be the easiest path the the CFP.
Nothing wrong with winning the ACC and being in the top 10 this year, or even finishing around #15 last year, if you’re most school. But we are Clemson, and best is the standard. I don’t think these last two years are our best, do you?

but haven't done the research.
I did however look up coaching salaries since you keep bringing that up.
According to Sportico, we were 10th(Public schools) in 2020-2021 and that was with the huge salaries for TE and BV so I'd imagine our overall spend has gone down some there.
Another interesting number I ran across on there is that we were 16th for ticket sales in MBB for 2020-2021, it only takes into account public schools, but still surprised me since you say we have such terrible fans.

Obliviously "Best is the Standard" is not true for the Basketball Coach. Brownell gets paid more than Dabo did when Dabo started as the FB coach and he built the program then got more money, Judge!

Brad was hired as a successful coach with 8 years of head coaching experience, 6 seasons with 20+ wins, and several NCAA Tournament appearances.
And we still didn’t pay Brad that much relative to other ACC coaches.
But I know it helps the narrative here to make it sound like Dabo was paid scraps and Brad was paid an exorbitant amount.

things, in my opinion. First, a few key players have not panned out because they just weren't quite a good as projected, or secondly because of injuries. I think both were true for DJ, and that greatly impacted the whole team's attitude and performance. Several 4/5 star receivers have not developed or panned out (could that be DJ's fault - or coaches who chose to sitick with DJ?) O-line struggled last year; seemed improved this year. We're still a top 10-15 team, just not quite a playoff team.
Clemson basketball needs a bigger committment all the way around, starting with a new head coach. If more funding is needed to attract more/better assistant coaches and facillities - do it. I think we can. Either way, Brownell has had plenty of time, and new blood is needed - even if $$$ remains the same.

You gave no fault to Brad B. You rarely if ever do. You don’t complain about their lack of recruiting. You don’t ever point out that they consistently lose to teams they shouldn’t.
My issue is you are very consistent in critiquing a Hall of fame coach in Dabo yet you give excuse and show full support for Brad Brownell and the BB team. Saying you are disappointed we lost is a lot different in how you go after the football program.

Averaging a 76th place finish over five years on the heels of 44th ranked recruiting classes and the 38th highest salary doesn't exactly scream poor funding as a cause for his consistent failures.
Clemson spotted Brad with excellent fan support when he started. It's a shame he's driven over 20% of our attendance off over his time here. In comparison, ACC attendance overall has dropped 6%, closer to 5% if you remove our outsized impact on that, so not exactly the systemic issue some (you) like to claim.

21-5 is underachieving? So only undefeated and final 4 is the standard for FB but not being in the top 68 more than 3 out of 10 and finishing at 16 once is over achieving for BB. Hum.

What is under achieving to you??? By your standards every team in the country but the nation champion under achieved. Winning the conference and going to the Orange bowl is not under achieving. That is a great season.

In football, we were predicted to be in the playoffs. We weren’t close either time.
In basketball, we routinely finish ahead of our preseason prediction under Brownell.
Basketball usually overachieves. Football has underachieved two years in a row.

If you consider “underachieving “ as being ranked 7 - then you need to rethink - but that is difficult for you (thinking).
You are one of the main Dabo detractors. Your BS about transfer portal, nil, coordinators, hiring, etc.
That would be the equivalent of Brad making the elite 8.
As for basketball.
The basketball team , school, fans need and deserve new (assuming it has any right now) leadership. Your excuses don’t hold water.

Not disappointed at all. It’s obvious you come on to stir the pot and bash the football program every chance you get . You are usually proactive in doing it after a basketball loss . It’s also obvious you are a bigger Brownell fan than a Clemson fan . As far as let downs they were blew out last night by a roster that probably had zero Clemson offers . So who is underachieving again ??
On a side note Brownell seems to be a really nice guy and I think loves Clemson. . Doesn’t mean it isn’t time for a change and certainly doesn’t mean your trolling constantly helps his case . I think from the large amount of posters on here it actually does the opposite. Hopefully you don’t have any real affiliation with the basketball program . If you do Clemson basketball is in bigger trouble than it seems

Keep in mind that the basketball equivalent of last years “bad” football season would be a tournament appearance at a minimum and this year would be an elite 8 or Sweet 16 at worst.

Isn’t going to a NewYear’s 6 bowl” equivalent to making the Sweet 16? Throw in a conference championship and 12 wins, and it sounds like a great season to me.
Not making the CFP (due to the USUC game) is a bummer, but many people long before that were saying we weren’t quite CFP caliber. Finishing strong, we finish ranked around #6. That’s not too shabby at all.
