Until there were no SEC teams in the final.

There wasn't an SEC team in the very first playoff championship game 10 years ago. That hardly seems the reason for expansion.

being in the way. The best teams in this field are 1-2 and 5-9. When those teams start playing each other we will get good games.

There should be no more than 6 teams in the playoff, and that’s really more than there should be. Otherwise expect these types of games.

If Clemson and Tennessee lose, it’ll be a big hit to the new format. If either Clemson or Tennessee pull the upset, that might be enough to justify it. But I agree, generally. 4 teams were enough to find the best 2. 6-8 is ok for more drama. This just seems to be lopsided.

I do not want Clemson to lose, but I don't like the new format anyways. BCS was bad, but a 4 team playoff is all you need in college football. At most have 4 and 5 have a play-in game to the 4th spot. But this is all about $$$.

I think it's great. Glad it exists. Look forward to 16 teams. Sometimes the matchups will be better.

The other thing that was very predictable was $1200 tickets and huge television ratings for Notre Dame and Indiana.

Just like in basketball, the more teams you have, the more likely blowouts will happen early, but at the same time, plenty of blowouts happened in the 4 team playoff as well
