So can somebody explain to me

why I should be happy we were in a dog fight against cuse?
I admit I didn't get to watch the game (too busy taking 3 hours starting a verizon phone plan and handing over too much money). I did get to hear parts on the radio and from the sound of it, cuse played us hard. Shouldn't we have beat them decisively? We didn't. Why? And other than the fact that "a win is a win," why should I be happy about the game Saturday?

That's probably because I am directing my question towards the people who (hypothetically speaking) would be thrilled with a 1 point win over SC State. A win is a win, but being #1 in the nation makes the cuse game a bad win. Or am I wrong? (I've been wrong before, just ask my wife).

You just seem to have you panties in a wad because Clemson didn't cover the spread or win in a more decisive fashion.
How much did you lose?

I tune that conversation out.
The ONLY time those words make sense together is in a game with massive injuries. A game that turns out to be a Pyrrhic victory.
This wasn't that, and it's silly to argue this win as anything other than a necessary step in getting where we want to be.

the season would send major red flags. If it happened to other teams and their fans tried to talk to me about it, I'd bring up how baby Syracuse is. That we now have a body of work to lean on, I will get less concerned. I also think the general youth of the team shows itself in road games.

Clemson played a sloppy game ....

but at the end of the day, coming away with the win to move to 10-0 on the season is all that matters. The sloppy aspects of the game are all things that can be corrected. When you are the No. 1 ranked team in the nation, you are going to get everyone's best effort.

You people amaze me with your whining. I guess we are so effin spoiled that we forget that every team that plays us now is leaving everything they have on the table. It was SUs superbowl and we swatted them away like a little fly. No we didn't play our best game but we were still 10 points better even after turning the ball over 3 times. This happens under Tommy Bowden and we lose this game by 17. Enjoy the ride and quit overanalyzing every freaking little detail.

Not a bad ### but I am a bad ### tiger fan who enjoys every game we win or lose. In case you haven't noticed we have won them all so far so excuse me if I don't understand why you are whining about a WIN.

We lost momentum and they gained it. Up 14-0 in the first qtr, KB ran up the middle and fumbled. They scored on the next play and it became a dawg fight from there. Me personally I love those kinda wins, just a few years ago we would have lost a game like that.

LSU had trouble there. Never be ungreatful for a win. After going through hootie, west, and hatfiled and west I've learned that

Everyone has a game like this. Remember when Northern Illinois took Ohio State to the wire? Same thing. I don't think anyone is happy about how we played, but I am happy that we can play our C-/D game and still win by 10 on the road, with just under 600 yards in total offense. We also have a kicker that is automatic and the best QB in the country. Gotta look at the positives!

you are in desperate need some sort of radical mental therapy. What is it that you are hoping for?
And I pray your home is free and clear of weapons if/when Clemson loses its next game because you surely won't be able to deal with it.
Personally, I've been waiting for this year for several decades, and am enjoying every last second of it. Not one moment of angst or disappointment. NOT ONE.

But to not be happy as a fan of the #1 team who just made it to 10-0 with a double digit win on the road against a conference opponent? That's just odd to me.

But, at the end of the day, if you simply can't be happy at a double digit road win against a conference opponent to continue an undefeated season wherein we didn't suffer any monumental injuries, then perhaps college football just isn't the sport for you. Or perhaps Clemson just isn't the team?
We took their best shot, and that QB played dang well. There's plenty to discuss and critique, but if you do so from a point of being unhappy as a fan, then no one here can explain it to you.

I think the main issue is the expectations of the team. Not just from us as fans, but from the country including, and especially the media. A close win against a bottom feeder ACC team is not a good mark on our record 10-0 or not to most people in CFB. Imagine if that happens this weekend as well. Yeah people on here will be like "oh a win is a win, we are still undefeated, who cares." Well I'm sure the playoff committee will care.

The AP and The Coaches moved Clemson up.ESPN has been busy talking about the ranked teams that lost to unranked teams while pointing out Clemson still has the 2 best victories. That is, everyone except Mark May.He's still trying to claim the UGA/AS&M were top 10 teams on Bama schedule.

Care to wager on the Comitte caring??
here let me clue you in on something from this weekend (which Lawton Swann even points out on today's posted Tiger Talk):
1) LSU lost. Why does that matter? Because that IS still Alabama's biggest ranked win basing on current rankings(and still will be when the new polls come out tomorrow, seeing Bama beating Miss State making them now a 3-loss team should knock them out of the top 25, one of their losses being to LSU)...their other wins...un-ranked Auburn, un-ranked UGA, un-ranked Arkansas (that just beat LSU), un-ranked Texas A&M...oh and then there's that loss to Ol' Miss that has to be considered.
2) Notre Dame is still winning, so is Fl State. Why does that matter? ND is currently #4, might be 4 or 5 tomorrow. Fl State is currently #16 from last week, but then there are losses by #6, #7, #9, #10, #15...#8 barely squeaked out a win...#14 went into double OT to win theirs against an un-ranked Indiana. #17 is who lost to Alabama, #18 NW won by 7 vs un-ranked Purdue, and #19 UCLA lost to un-ranked Washington State, #21 lost to #24, and #24 lost to un-ranked USF...thus, there is hardly anyone that was sitting under Fl State that will jump them, but there are teams that are above them that are likely to drop below them (one definite in TCU). That means, Fl State will likely rise in the polls. Who does that help...Clemson or Alabama? Who does LSU dropping and Miss dropping out hurt...Alabama or Clemson?

Yes our offense can score at will (barring turnovers).
Our ST has gotten better.
However, our D is not playing lights out like we have seen in the first part of the season. What happened? Yes it can be fixed but it still makes me anxious on when BV will fix. Once again I believe that if anybody can, he can and will.
Yes the problems that plagued us Saturday can be fixed, but still, how does it look to the Playoff committee and the rest of the nation? Especially if it continues against a horrible WF team and an even worse coot team.

needed to get the team back on track for the home stretch.
Also, why would you choose the time of the Clemson game to go get a phone plan? It's one thing for women to screw up football season with weddings and such, but to do it on your own accord? That's lunacy.

I know. I completely dropped the ball on that one. We were only suppose to look at phones then go get my wife a bridesmaid dress that she had already picked out and paid for (2 hours tops and it was 1 so plenty of time right?) by the time we were on the way home, the game was halfway through the 4th qtr.

Oh yeah, quack on about our defense. Truth is, the boys got a little too big for their breeches and Venables sent them in with a less than perfect gameplan. Of course that was approved by Dabo and endorsed by our OCs who wanted pressure on their guys as well.
Everything is controlled by our coaches except the quacking from fans, quack quack quackon...
