Tom Brady's quarterback coach. My story...

...
In late 1993 I was searching for a lake house. My condo lease was coming up for renewal. There were many uncertainties at that time, but it was clear I was NOT a condo person! A well-known local realtor asked me to take a look at a home in "East Shores" on Lake Keowee, just outside of Seneca. I liked the house, but not enough to pull the trigger. In a last-ditch effort to sell the house the realtor asked if I would lease the house for six months with the option to buy. The offer fit my situation and I accepted. I moved in the house in late-September. I enjoyed the fall lake sunsets and some decent bass fishing from the dock. However, by February I was convinced I didn't want the house and told the realtor I would be moving out in April. I agreed she could show the house with 24-hour notice on Monday thru Saturday. A few weeks and showings passed. One Sunday morning the realtor called me frantically asking to show the house to a "hot prospect". It was inconvenient, but I relented because I considered her a friend. The showing was set for 10am. By 11, no one had arrived. I set about making some lunch for myself and a gf who was visiting. I was making chicken tenders...the hard way. Cut the meat, dredge in flour and spices, and deep fry. I had just removed the last batch from the fry pan when the doorbell rang. There stood the realtor and six men. I was furious, but let them in. The prospective buyer was a young cat introduced to me as Clyde Christensen, Clemson's new coordinator and quarterbacks coach. The men started swarming the house while the realtor stood and made apologies for the "late" interruption. I remember one other face. It was Les Herrin. Such a pompous attitude I had never seen in my life. He walked around with his chest poked out and was opening every closet door in the house for some reason. My gf recognized I was about to lose my composure and escorted me out onto the deck to wait until the crowd left. After about ten more minutes I saw all of the cars pull away. GF and I went back into the house to finally eat our brunch. MY CHICKEN TENDERS WERE GONE!!!!! ALL OF THEM!!! Those guys were so full of themselves they thought they could come into my house and eat my food. The memory haunts me today over 25 years later.

I think I would have gotten some addresses and wrote a few letters. I would also have told the realtor that her "guests" owed him for lunch.

He did not buy the house.
The realtor and I fell out over the incident because I stopped all showings until I moved out.
GF and I went to Ryans for lunch.
Side Note: A few months ago I was watching one of those "Lakefront Bargain Hunt" shows. They were filming at Lake Keowee. The house I leased was one of the three shown. It was just like I left it. Same colors (Hunter green bathrooms, brass fiuxtures, mauve kitchen). Very early 1990's decor. Those people didn't buy it either!

I hope you realize that you cooking your own chicken fingers may have stood in the way of Clemson getting a Chic Fila and you know what that cost us!
