Growing up, Buckner was too big to play football with the kids his age. He dern near might have killed them. The Tampa Bay Times asked Buckner about his best day. He responded as follows:

What was the best day of your life?

Well, I'll speak athletically: when my dad told me that I could play football. Because growing up, I couldn't play Little League because I was too big. I was 9 years old and almost 200 pounds. And the only way I could play was to play with the 13-year-olds, and my dad was going to put me out there with them. So when I finally graduated to sixth grade, he said, "Now you can play football."

Tigernet describes Brentson Buckner’s playing career at Clemson as follows:

“Buckner won the ACC Championship in 1991 as starting defensive tackle with the late Chester McGlockton. He also started in 1992 and 1993. He led the Tigers to nine wins in 1993, including a 14-13 win over Kentucky in the Peach Bowl. He was the defensive MVP of that game when he had 13 tackles.”

As mentioned above, one of Brentson Buckner’s biggest games as a ClemsonTiger came in the 1993 Peach owl against Kentucky. According to Tigerneet:

“He helped the Tigers to an ACC Championship in 1991 and a nine-win season in 1993, which was capped by a Peach Bowl victory when he had 13 tackles and was named Defensive MVP.”

After Clemson:

The Pittsburgh Steelers selected Buckner with the 50th Pick (2nd Round) of th3 1994 NFL Draft. Buckner played 12 seasons in the NFL with the Steelers (1994-1996), Cincinnati Bengals (1997), SF 49ers (1998-2000), and Carolina Panthers (2001-2005). According to Pro-Football-Reference.com, Buckner registered the following NFL statistics:

- 430 Tackles (309 Solo, 121 Assisted)
- 31 Sacks
- 2 Interceptions Returned for 37 Yards

The Tampa Bay Times asked Buckner what it was like to sack a QB:

“Can you describe what it's like to sack a quarterback?

It's the greatest feeling in the world. … Now you have to be careful because it gets addictive, and you can't forget that you got to play the run, too, after that. Because that joy — you know, I've never done drugs — but I imagine that's how drugs might feel. You get a sack and you want to experience it again and again, and it becomes dangerous because you forget about everything else. It's euphoria.”

LB Jeremiah Trotter Jr. came to Clemson with a strong pedigree. His father, Jeremiah Trotter Sr. had enjoyed a long NFL career as an All-Pro LB primarily for the Philadelphia Eagles. With a lot to live up to, Jeremiah Trotter Jr. excelled in his own right!

He has been a mainstay for Clemson’s defense the last two seasons!

While at Clemson:

After Clemson:

In early March (more than 1 year before the April NFL Draft) Trotter said that it would be a “blessing to play” for the Eagles like his dad had done. According to CBS Sports:

"Great team, great club," Trotter said at the NFL Scouting Combine this week, via Chat Sports. "It would be a blessing to play for them as well. I'm just really waiting for the opportunity to go wherever I go and get happy wherever I land.”

Turns out, this is exactly what happened in the April draft. The Philadelphia Eagles selected Jeremiah Trotter Jr. with the 155th Pick (5th Round) of the 2024 NFL Draft.
