Definitely has improved my sleep quality and overall well-being.
I use the AirSense 10 Respond machine and the AirFitF30i mask.
Also, wife gets better sleep too because I'm not sawin' logs anymore.

Sleeve gastrectomy, it’s a surgery that takes about 30 minutes, I do it w the robot. One night stay in the hospital, about a week to two out of work.
It’s the most metabolic operation worldwide, about 70%. I love doing them, did two today in fact.
Usually about 65-75% excess body weight loss. 80%+ rates of resolution of hypertension, diabetes, dyslipidemia, asthma, joint pain, fatty liver disease. About 90% resolution rates for sleep apnea. Reduced lifetime risk of 20+ cancers. 5-15 years added life expectancy.

The operation has outstanding results on class I obesity as well, BMI’s 30-35. If you’ve got sleep apnea and you have a normal BMI I think ENTs can roto rooter out your sinuses and sometimes that helps

One guy working, an RN, who was managing, I dunno, 8-10 patients in different rooms. It was like a hotel, except being hooked up to a bunch of annoying ass wires. He told me the next morning that he's not qualified to make determinations on whether somebody has sleep apnea, he just passes the data along to doctors, but also..."yeah, I could tell you have BAD apnea in the first 2 minutes you were asleep."
I laughed a little, probably cried on the inside a little, and may have peed my pants a little.

And yes, it's at home. The general idea these days is they send you home with a kit, and you hook it up yourself and sleep in your own bed. Pretty simple. Belt around your belly button, another across your chest (boobies). Then a pulseox taped to your finger, a snoring sensor you tape to your neck, and a nasal canula you put on your nose.
This test ONLY diagnoses OSA, obstructive sleep apnea. It is VERY good at detecting OSA, but less so with the other type, which is neurological.
Anyway, the results I won't post, but they're pretty clear. 59 minutes of the night my 02 was below 89. Lowest was 78, highest was 100. If you stop breathing for 10 seconds or more, that's an apnea, and registers. I had over 400 on the night. Snoring was pretty constant. Heart rate was like 80 on average but varied from 60 to 118, high when I'd wake up.
There is another apnea when you just breathe slower, and that was only 1 or 2 on the night, so normal. Had THAT number been high, I'd have the full blown test at the sleep place with 1,000 wires.

man or beast, and NEVER found one that I could get any sleep with. So, I just live with the sleep apnea.
I do umember the sleep study said I stopped breathing 587 times during the night. I keep forgetting to breathe? Wow, I'm even dumber than I thought I was.

I was scheduled for another and canceled it. Decided to lose some weight and it changed my sleep dramatically. Not saying it works for everybody but it did for me.

but I'd guess a fair number of folks would get off the alcohol, caffeine and get their BMI straight, they wouldn't need a CPAP.
I mean I'm not doing any of that, but I'm also not having a problem sleeping, at least that I know about.
