Clemson vs fsu 1993

I remember watching Brent Musberger reporting scores that day and he said something to the effect of "my how far that program at Clemson has fallen.". That was a painful moment, especially since he has always sort of been a fan of Clemson. I still remember the sting of that moment clearly. When I think back to that, I feel so much better about Mondays game.

Ooooh, how sorely I remember that game. I recall that even Coach Ford was shocked. But... that was a long time ago, and we're about to make up for a lotta lost ground.

I was there at that game... And the next year 1994 was also in Tally... We lost that one 17 to 0... They beat us 11 years in a row until we beat them at home in 2003...

With the exception of 06 and 13 (God, help us), the home team has won every game in the series since 2003, as well. Can't think of too many series off hand that are so one-sided to home teams.

Yes, and the whole next year a plane flew over Death Valley at every home game with a banner behind it reading" 57-0 Hatfield must go."

Didn't someone park a moving van on his front lawn? I heard that back then, but maybe that was just made up.

Actually finished 9-3 in '93, but were coming off 5-6 in '92

and lost a heartbreaker to FSU in the 2nd game of the season 24-20, where we had a 4th quarter lead after Terry Smith's TD catch. That was FSU's first year in the ACC; that loss seemed to start a decade of mediocrity.

We got rid of Hatfield at the end of 93

Tommy West was in over his head coaching at Clemson but he was a Tiger through and through and I was glad to get rid of Kenny "flexbone" Hatfield. And Tommy went on to do a decent job at Memphis despite hardly any support from the university.

Is that the game where we were going to score on a blocked PAT until Scott Bently ran the ball carrier for the tackle?

Yep. I was down on the field with Tiger band near the other end zone and watched them come towards us. I remember "Well, at least we're going to get on the scoreboard". I couldn't believe that he got ran down.
I remember being so excited for that game. '92 was my freshman year and the FSU game, a night game vs Charlie Ward was the best football game I had even been to. What a nightmare.

Not to make light of a serious subject, but it's remarkable we Tiger fans don't get PTSD symptoms when we go down to their place.
I don't think I'll ever forget the 98/99 yard pass Weinke threw right over the top of our defense in 2000. We just never had a chance that night, especially with Woody playing on a bad leg.

FSU would swap out the entire offense. Second string would run the first play and make 7 or 8 yards then the first string would come in on second down to score.
