Should colleges have a limit to offers handed out to student athletes?

Jul 29, 2018, 11:06 AM

I was looking over 24/7 's site at the class of 2020.
https://247sports.com/college/clemson/Season/2020-Football/Offers/

Looking at this I seen we had 56 offers out already. Using the information listed in these , the SEC all had over 100 offers out already, except Miss. St. The Cawks have 122. You think wow that's alot. However, they were one of the better of the SEC teams. Tennessee has 191 offers out and they are topped by Kentucky with a whopping 197 offers already. I realize there is nothing wrong in offering, however , it just seems ethically wrong. What are your thoughts? Please no smart ### answers, or no Dabo does it the right way. We know that and he has proven it. Should there be a limit?

Could make things interesting if schools were Aloted only 25 offers or so. Downfall would be that so many kids would not have a offer at all.

I would caution you that using 247 as your source is going to lead to inaccurate data.

Only the staffs know who has commitable offers and that could change any day.

I get what you are saying, but therein is another question and that is commitable offers. I don't like the fishing with a giant net approach, as much I do the individual thrill of each catch. I know you feel like your coaches would never pull an offer to a verbal commit if they got a better prospect to commit, but it happens allot in the SEC and I believe a school's word should be their binding agreement with these young men. Oversigning and running off athletes is wrong and unethical.

No, I don't see a problem with it

Athletes have no limit on their scholarship offers, schools shouldn't either.

This topic certainly proves it's downtime - if there is nothing to b i tch about, someone will find something ;)

Colleges always accept more students than could possibly attend school. Is this wrong too?
