SC Interstate signage...what is wrong?

So someone in another thread brought up work on I85, so I guess its safe to bring this to this board as well...what is up with the signs on the Interstates around SC?!? Why are about 75% of the signs you encounter on Interstates faded and almost unreadable?!
Is this a state issue, or is this an issue of Democrats and globalist NeverTrump Republicans not giving Federal dollars for Interstate signage to the Trump voting states??

Basically the transportation department in the state was mismanaged for decades so we have what we have now.

The maintenance crews vision is so blurred from running into the potholes that they do not notice the signs.

new signs were approved but then , Covid, Zelensky needed HIMARS ,study to find out if BLM do indeed matter, Pentagon placed a billion dollars somewhere and can’t find it, etc etc

The sun is bright in SC, signs that get afternoon sun fade fast. Paint that gets afternoon sun peels sooner, the list goes on and on. It shouldn't be a mystery.

Well, the signs aren’t great however, did you notice our roads? Pick a road; interstates especially but highways and city/county roads.. all for the most part are terrible.
