Saturdays are for College Football

Jan 8, 2022, 7:36 PM

I wish we had a National Championship college football game tonight. I don’t understand why we play it on Monday night at the end of the season. That has always been an NFL night. With work schedules, Monday night is anticlimactic for me.

Agreed. Ratings would be much improved because they could have the whole day as a primer. Never understood it myself. Would think it'd be a winfall for restaurants/bars on Saturday night.

I have long asked this question. The minimum the NFL could do I get out of the way on one Saturday in January considering CFB is their minor league.

Or even a Friday is better than Monday. Monday makes no since and they start it so late with the length of college games. Colleges and the NCAA are tone deaf to fans and it will eventually come back to haunt them.

At least this year I don’t care as I am planning on not watching. Didn’t watch the 1st Bama UGA game and not going to watch this one.

Hate Monday night for this. Always wanted it to be a Saturday night game. Viewership would skyrocket.

1) yes … you are absolutely right and especially with the NFL going to a 17 game schedule and this being a regular season week for them now…no reason at all to defer to them!!!

2) I imagine the NFL would even agree with this given the 17 game regular season now but Iah … I’m not sure the college coaches don’t like the extra 2 days of prep for the finale!!!

3) I’m a college football guy…don’t really have any allegiance to any nfl team…but as far as the game of football itself … forget the pageantry, the personal connections, the hype etc…the NFL game is soooo much better…those dudes are soooo good and play at such a High level that’s it’s almost unbelievable… it should be that way and it is with basketball and baseball also but the difference between the college game and the pro game is a very substantial gap!!!
