Going forward, a "team" will really be more of a yearly assemblage of players.. your roster will form up as school starts in August.

The best coaches will be those who can recruit the portal and they will need an AAU type of mindset. It'll really just be street ball. Let's call it the U-league (a step below the NBA G-league).

My guess is fanship will drop a good bit as folks realize these are just pop-up AAU teams that aren't really associated in a meaningful way with a given school.

Agree, unless we get a transfer that takes us deep in the tourney. If that happens I don’t care if we get a new team every year!!

will be doing something interesting. But I believe the OP is correct...other than that scenario (and who really thinks we are the school to succeed in this environment?), only the most fervent fans will stay engaged.

It just isn't "college basketball" anymore at that point.

We've already lost most of the top transfers targets. Unless there is a 2nd significant wave of players in the portal we will really struggle to get a 11 man team next season.

You cant lose something you never had so why use that term? You could say missed but only if you know for a fact we were actively recruiting a particular target.
