Robert Duvall and Clemson

I hope everyone saw that legendary actor Robert Duvall was in Clemson last weekend and spent time with head coach Dabo Swinney. After I ran the story on Duvall's appearance, his wife reached out to me to see if we wanted to do an interview with him on why he loves Clemson and why they came to a game. So I spent part of the afternoon talking to him about Clemson, Swinney, and some of his most iconic roles. We are going to run that story in the morning, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed talking to him.
I will leave you with one quote Duvall had about Dabo.
“I mean, I've talked with Bill Clinton, with George Bush and General (Colin) Powell and Marlon Brando, and way back with other Presidents and all kinds of people. And I felt more of an immediacy right away talking with Dabo Swinney. Maybe we come from different worlds and that's what made it work. We had a wonderful half hour or less conversation before he went out to work with the troops the day before the big game.”

Also, bit of trivia for Lonesome Dove fans.......

The screen play was originally written for John Wayne and James Stewart in the 60's. Wayne ultimately declined and it sat on shelf until history was finally made in creating the best western ever filmed. {That last bit is personal opinion, but who's counting....}
I don't think there could ever have been a better Gus and Woodrow than Duval and Jones. They both owned the role.

I had the Lonesome Dove series on VHS or maybe DVD, but don’t have a player now. Guess I have to find it on a streaming service now. Can’t wait to watch it again! And looking forward to the interview.
I saw the Duvalls eating lunch in Middleburg one day, would have loved to ask for an autograph, but I feel that celebrities should be allowed to be private people when off stage so I didn’t interrupt the gentleman’s meal.

I have Lonesome Dove, and return to lonesome Dove in my youtubeTV library. I also have Open Range, Secondhand Lions in my library. I am indeed a Robert Duval fan, no question, and that is one person I would love to hang out with for a day or two!!!!
