Ray Ray is now 5* on Rivals

Thought it would have been Cain. We are still 30pts behind #2.

We still might make the jump with the 100 coming out. If Cain or anyone else jumped up.

Also Shameik Blackshear has moved down a few spots because he is not a 5*. That means at least 30 are ahead of him.

I hope we have several that get a little more respect. Several 3* should go to 4*.

Someone who cares about our recruiting ranking being either
Aug 18, 2014, 10:46 AM

#2 or #3 please explain why? What difference does it make, in real life, if we have a 4 star or a 5 star so that we can jump another school in a recruiting rankings board?
You guys have to know this whole thing is ludicrous, right?
Rivals is genius for creating drama where there is none.... just like CNN.

I don't care about any of it, but it gets the attention of other possible recruits. Everyone jumps on the bandwagon when it's going up!

Recruits do not factor in Rivals recruiting rankings when
Aug 18, 2014, 10:50 AM

they choose their institution.
Please think about this for a second. Friends, family, location, academic major, relationship with coaches, relationship with teammates, playing time.... and you really think recruiting ranking either being #2 or #3 has anything to do with such an important decision?
That's crazy talk.

Any publicity is good publicity. Recruiting may not influence a players decisions, but it does draw attention to the University. It is an excellent source of off season momentum building.

searching for legitimacy when there is none. The only people following these rankings closely enough to notice such a tiny difference are people who care about the rankings...for the sake of the rankings... as if they are an object of pride in themselves.
You guys care about something worthless.

Of course there's not much different in #2 vs #3 recruiting class, as far a talent in concerned. It does however grab attention around the country. And as a Clemson lifer, I have pride to be #1 in everything, even if it's just recruiting. Especially if the Coots are ahead of us! And it also gets us familiar with our future players & opponents.

winning a Bleacher Report ranking on helmets. It's really not up to them who has the best helmets. And it's impossible to actually rank classes before they ever play a down. We won't know who has the best class for years. So this ranking is nothing more than a gimmick to gain $attention.$ The rankings are fixed to make the most money from the fanbases who care the most. It's a massive manipulation.
I won't submit my competitive pride, in all things Clemson, to a farce.

I've never paid for any of the services, but I'm sure some do. I think Scouts are watching these kids from a young age, so why we may not know how the whole class will play out, it certainly gives us an idea of talent to come. And the future in near...aka Macksnzie Alexander, & other freshman starting these days. High School recruiting has become similar to the NFL draft & scouting. It's more precise than ever. Just my opinion.

If you don't think high school recruits follow recruiting services you haven't been watching. Sure normally we are not talking about a small difference in #2 or #3 but the high Clemson climbs the more likely they are to be top 5 or 10 at the end of the season. That means a full day of recruiting coverage on the 4 letter network. I am not saying it is the difference between the program surviving or falling a part but everything plays a part in today's what have you done for me lately world.

I agree. Look at all the camps now. Kids go to learn, but also bump up there stock/ * rating to get the attention of the big schools. It's definitely a different world from when I was in school.

If Clemson wasn't winning regularly, we wouldn't be getting any of the guys. Bottom Line. Ray Ray wouldn't be here if Cain wasn't here. Though he liked the coaches, Cain was the deciding factor. OL Fruhmorgen wouldn't be here if we weren't winning. So it all plays a part. How do explain Ol Miss last year, & Tenn this year.
