Rear view mirror. Should CK have gone pro last year

Hind sight is 20-20…. Yes.. but wow, no one hurt himself more than CK, would have easily gone pro in second -third round last year, now some thinking he may not be drafted, crazy…..
Hopefully there is a team that believes he can be developed and has the raw talent and they take a flier on him……

Also Woods and Parker sure haven't done anything to help their own draft status.

Woods is the biggest surprise. Never seen a player nose-dive like that without..

Yeah, hindsight criticism's are a plague with society in general and lead to pointless arguments and misery. But I don't think anyone on the planet reasonably predicted we would be this bad though. Heck, him coming back and having a repeat of last year would've been disappointing but wouldn't have destroyed his draft stock and probably could've kept him in the top 3 rounds with lots of money still on the table.
Now? I actually don't know where he will go. The NFL isn't exactly dying for QB's these days. I doubt he'll go undrafted but it isn't looking good.

His shortcomings would be amplified in the NFL. He could easily have been cut and out of the league by now or by the coming season.

After he gets signed in 2026, whether as a late round draft pick or as UDFA, he’ll be faced with those same shortcomings to overcome if he is to actually make a roster.
He’ll probably bounce around on a few practice squads, ‘retire’ from the NFL, and go on to be a successful investment banker or a management consultation agency and have a very satisfying professional career and private life.
Cade Klubnik has ‘winner’ all about him; it just won’t be in professional football.

No, he should have worked harder over the summer, then come back here (as he did) and played better than he has..... but that horse is out of the barn, over the fence and running down the road.

The real 20-20 hindsight question is " Who rated CK as a 5 star prospect and what about him made the Clemson staff get enamored? I was not fan of CK as a QB from the beginning. His lack of foot speed, pocket presence, arm strength and decision-making were the initial indicators. Finalized by his continuous penchant for playing " hero ball " were enough to let me know he'd never excel to the levels of DW4 and TL16.

Cade Klubnik is blazing fast.
Say whatever else you’re going to say about him, but raw, straight line foot speed is not a limitation for Cade Klubnik.

People would just be lamenting the latest underperforming Clemson QB in the Pros. Cant feel too bad for Klubnick though. He's already made more this season than a lot of us will make in a lifetime. Hope he's got a good investment plan because if he doesnt work on his fundamentals or get a good degree its gonna be his nest egg.

I figure that CK2 and his family, his agent / advisers (among which would be NFL prospect analyst(s)), and Clemson coaches did their own analysis and arrived at a quasi-consensus that, after end of 2024 season, CK2 was likely to be a 2nd or 3rd round NFL pick.
The Klubnik family, well off, confident, ambitious, and having gratitude for Clemson, would have reasonably decided that it was worth the gamble that CK2 would improve further -&- avoid injury, and thus be likely to get a 1st round grade for the 2026 draft.
That, along with a hefty NIL raise, probably explains why he stayed for his SR year with us in this, the 2025 college season.
Klubnik family lost the gamble.
So did Clemson, which would have been much better off losing with Vizzina / Pearman / Denson (with one or more from among them getting lots of in-game experience) and thus setting up the 2026 season to have an experienced QB -or- to ascertain that a true FR QB from the 2026 would be the best chance for us at the start of the 2026 season.
Soooo, here we are.
