Reality Check

Feb 4, 2013, 9:40 AM

Every year at this time I get excited that like 6 or 7 big time recruits have Clemson in their top 2 or 3. And every year only one or two or sometimes none choose Clemson. Well I am only expecting Crowder to choose Clemson, all the others will go to the SEC. That’s just the way it is man. I hate it as much as yall do, but until this trend changes I just won’t have high hopes. After all, many of these blue chippers don’t pan out, and sometimes the 2 stars rise to the top. Americans likes to have rankings for everything, but you can’t truly judge a recruiting class until 3 or four years later.

i agree that the best time to rank a class is AFTER they com

plete their eligibility. as far as being in the top 2-3 for a few guys and only getting one or so, i feel that we still have to take a shot at the kids the coaches feel will improve our program, even if they are highly thought of and every team in the fbs (d-1) wants them, and of course, they all won't see clemson the same as you or me.

On the one hand you have those who are predicting that

Feb 4, 2013, 9:59 AM

Clemson will "shock the world", or that we have all of these super-secret silent commitments from a bunch of 4 and 5-star prospects.

Then you have the doom-and-gloomers who think that if we don't get most of those, we have had a bad year in recruiting.

The truth is, we won't get most of those that we have fought so long and hard for, right up to the bitter end; but we will still have a pile of very highly regarded, highly rated recruits who should fill our needs quite well and give us yet another outstanding recruiting class.

You need the reality check...how do you think our class is

usually ranked so high then?...read the facts not your fantasy opinion...but we all know it makes you feel good to ride them coattails baby...

Who's recruiting have you been following the past 8 years?

Feb 4, 2013, 10:09 AM

Not ours, apparently. We have consistently been getting top 20 classes and Dabo tends to close very well, too. You're not going to get everyone you want, but 2 or 3 out of 7 is pretty d@mn good.

Well then we better focus on player development

Feb 4, 2013, 10:26 AM

If the "SEC brand" is too much to overcome with HS kids, we better get better in building up our own talent to improve.

Re: Reality Check

Must not be following the same Clemson I've been watching recruit over the years. Do a pretty good job, and Dabo does it better than anybody. Look at South Carolina, we've been getting better recruiting classes than them for the most part of last 5 years. But they still had successful seasons ( now I hate Usuck that was hard to say, but they are pretty good). Just cause you are unhappy about not getting a top recruit you post this sad sob story about how Clemson always gets shitted out of players and how we're not good at recruiting? Are you kidding me, we will be fine.

NSD Drama often dissapoints

Feb 4, 2013, 1:14 PM

I am happy with our class thus far. Dabo has done great overall, but the point I am making speaks directly to the excitement of NSD. This is the day when we hope that all 7 or 8 or 9 kids who are thinking about choosing Clemson actually do. I have been following CU recruiting for a while now and NSD is usually a 1/6 success rate.
