My bourbon pallet is not as sophisticated as others and for me it’s one of those I have to try it. I can’t tell by a blind taste test whether it is rye or wheat. That being said, two bourbons I enjoy probably the most are rye; Elijah Craig and Woodford Reserve.

Bourbon by law has to be 51% corn, now the mix of wheat, rye and barley differ in the other 49%. Up until the last couple of months, all the corn used in bourbon has been yellow corn or the same corn used to feed cattle. But, along comes a bourbon made of white corn. If you like Silver Queen corn on the cobb, you’re going to love FORBIDDEN. White corn has a very distinct sweet taste and it comes through in this bourbon. Look up and get some information on this great bottle. Interesting story and person behind it!! It’s not cheap but worth trying.
You can thank me later!

Just picked up a bottle of buffalo trace on the way home. $50!!! The popularity of this bourbon has caused local liquor store owners to cash in. Had one bottle of eagle rare (10) $99!!!!

I have to travel to NJ for business and the weird thing is the liquor stores up there always have buffalo trace on the shelf for around $35, but down South you can’t find it . I also frequent a lot of restaurants/bars in NJ that have Blanton’s on the menu of $8 a pour. It makes no sense that you can’t find either of these in the South and when you do they are over priced.

It's just hit or miss with in-demand bourbons in general. It's much about being lucky enough to be at the right place at the right time. October 2022, I saw a case of BT just sitting on the shelf at a sma,ll liquor store in Johnson City, TN, but no sign of Eagle, Weller, Col. Taylor, etc.
BT and Eagle are difficult to find in VA, yet I've had opportunities to buy it numerous times just by pure luck.

When was the last time you were in NJ? I have lived here forever and it’s nearly impossible to find Buffalo Trace in any liquor store.

I travel to the New Brunswick, NJ area once a month and the liquor stores always have BT on the shelf. I usually buy 2 bottles to bring home. I have been making this trip monthly for the last two years.
