Question for those who know more about student access to football tickets than

I. A friend of mine's daughter is a freshman at Clemson. She had to enter a lottery for tickets to football games. She only got one game, the Duke game. What I'm wondering is, is there a way students like her can get tickets other ways, besides scalping that it is. For example, can students who haven't received tickets to games get them just before kickoff for Hill seating maybe? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I was really hoping as a brand new student she'd be able to experience the LSU game, even if it meant the Hill or upper deck nose bleeds or anywhere else.

Thanks!

My son is also a freshman and I had assumed that there would be an opportunity for freshmen to purchase season tickets like they’ve been able to in the past seasons. My daughter graduated from Clemson a couple of years ago and had done that. We called IPTAY about a month ago to inquire about it and the rep said no season tickets would be available for freshmen to purchase this year but his best bet would be to join the collegiate IPTAY to increase his chances for getting lottery tickets. So he joined and luckily got an LSU ticket along with FSU.
The whole way it’s done just sucks.
She will either have to ask around to see if other students have an extra ticket or are not using theirs or contact IPTAY/ticket office and ask about any available tickets. The IPTAY rep told me that the lottery was the only other official way students could get the LSU tickets.
Hope she can find a way to see the game!

I agree. I’m a member of IPTAY, a Clemson alum and paid a lot of #### money in tuition to the university for my kids to attend. It’s sad how students now take a back seat to the big money that’s taken over. I gave that IPTAY rep an ear full about it.

Just curious as to what you are hollering at the IPTAY rep? That individual has done nothing to cause this problem and can do nothing to fix it. If all students are to get home game tickets, their athletic fees are going to have to drastically increase or Clemson athletics will go broke. It is sad but the current state that the University is in.

I never said I was “hollering at the IPTAY rep”. Calm down Karen.
I just told him that it was frustrating for students like my son who’ve been looking forward to the LSU game and being a part of Clemson, and they have to jump through hoops and pay up to maybe or maybe not get a ticket.
And all students already pay an athletics fee on top of paying for season tickets, paying for collegiate IPTAY, going through the lottery, and no, Clemson is not going “broke” if athletic fees are not “drastically increased.
Please stop acting like you know what you’re talking about.

First of all , using Karen like you did is considered a racist term for a mature white woman like myself. Did using the term that way make you feel all powerful? Because from my end it made you look desperate because you did not have an adult answer to my question. Second, to me, when you stated you have the IPTAY rep an earful that seems like you were hollering. In your diatribe, you still didn’t explain why the IPTAY rep deserved your earful.

I am a Clemson alum with 42 years of IPTAY and Clemson football season tickets. I absolutely know what I am talking about. I understand that Clemson athletics is doing everything possible to hang on until 2030. If you do not realize that, get your head out of the sand. Do you realize that Oklahoma is selling tickets to their press conferences and spaces on top of their building to watch the team entrance? Look at all the things happening at Clemson like special seating on the hill and messages on the Dabotron. All is being done to stay afloat until Clemson can get more TV revenue money.

I am not your enemy. The current state of college athletics makes me sick. I have watched 80 year old plus boosters get booted out of their long term lots all in the name of progress. These are people that purchased tickets when Clemson football was nothing. If you want to get mad at somebody, I would recommend starting with the University Administrators for doubling the size of student enrollment. When that occurred, Clemson was no longer able to give all students tickets to all home games.

A diatribe was it? Okay, I did say above that I just told him I was frustrated and I believe as an IPTAY member, I can voice my frustrations. Don’t get your blood pressure up. Wow, Karen is now a racist term, who knew??
I do apologize for assuming you for a Karen….Good night and enjoy your season football tickets that poor students don’t have the luxury to obtain.

Of course "Karen" is racist. It describes entitled or demanding white women. Provide the name you use to negatively depict Asian or black women. You don have one, because that would be racists.

Stadium expansion. Going to need it by 2030 anyways if we join the SEC, B1G or a Super League and we get more teams that travel well compare to most of the ACC schools plus possible big time playoff games at home on top of that.

Clemson will never join the SEC but a stadium expansion should be in the works especially if we make another playoff run.

It is a shame but, that is the result of increasing the number of enrolled students. Everything is money driven now and athletics has to be funded or no teams will exist.

Kids still trade tickets between themselves, but getting rid of student season tickets before the lottery really sucked.

I’ll be honest I know a lot of kids have been bummed out about this for years now. My oldest is a Senior this year. It’s hard for them to become as invested in football as students when have to grind and get lucky to get a ticket these days.

It makes me wonder if it’ll hurt in the long run as you don’t necessarily foster support.

Its my understanding that is a student gets a ticket thru the lottery, they must use it or risk future tickets in the lottery system. So students who got a ticket and cant use it will be looking to unload it. Not sure how it works, but I think they have to make the decision to use the ticket or not by Thursday. Not sure if the ticket goes back into the system or if they can transfer it to another student.

I've been telling our daughter, who will hopefully be a Tiger this time next year, that the good news is there's never a line to get into the library.
