Question for the board

1

Sep 6, 2024, 10:38 AM

I asked this inside the thread of another post. Since most of the board seems to think we need changes at WR, and at best, there has been a lack of development by the coaches, how does Drew Swinney teach a player to high point the ball?

Well it isn't his job to

he's an unpaid intern. Maybe he could teach them to block though.

Drew Swinney isn't an unpaid intern anymore.

Drew Swinney, the son of head coach Dabo Swinney, has joined the Clemson football program as assistant wide receivers coach ahead of the 2024 season, the school announced.

Swinney will also work in an offensive player developmental role.

He is an unpaid intern in a volunteer position.

https://theclemsoninsider.com/2024/07/22/very-familiar-name-added-to-clemson-coaching-staff/

"The Clemson Insider has learned from multiple sources that former Clemson wide receiver Will Swinney has joined his father’s staff. We were told Swinney is joining as an unpaid offensive intern. It is considered a volunteer role."

The new rules this year allow interns and other personnel to be on field coaching assistants. They have all been assigned to a specific position group.

Just wait until Dabo's grandkids are old enough to join the staff.

That's Will Swinney, not Drew.

I think most people say we need experienced coaches and the entire WR staff needs to be replaced.

If you only focus on 1 position, you lose sight of the situation. Accept that our coaches recruit the best players they can get, coach them and then it is up to the players to train, work and make themselves better. If all of those things happen and we lose, the other team was simply better. There was 35 years between 81 and 16 and there is absolutely no guarantee that we will ever win another championship and if your threshold for success is that, you will continue to be searching. No team wins every year and never will.

What? So we lose 7 of the last 15 games and have nobody getting drafted at WR, are ranked 120 in explosive plays and the answer is just “ Oh well, it’s the players job to go implement what they were coached”.
That is some really good coot logic there.
