Question about coaches returning

We’ve all heard others say we want successful coaches to return if the job they left for doesn’t work out (Scott, Elliot, Venables, etc.). What are some examples of that happening? Especially a head coach returning to a school to fill a coordinator role or something similar. Only one that comes to mind is Petrino, which is even more unusual seeing he was head coach at the same school and retuned for a coordinator role. Any others?

Well, in the past you had to have a spot for them so the timing had to work out. That really doesn’t matter anymore since there are no limits on coaching staffs.
