QB recruiting

How much are we betting on a Blake Hebert or Tait Reynolds (2026) to be the next “guy”?

Doesn’t feel like we are swinging for 5* QBs anymore, and with CK2’s stagnancy and Vizzinias lack of progress… where to from here?

the position which makes little sense. Look at the QB room now? It's not deep at all and we've put all of our eggs in the CK basket. Unless CK makes major strides the rest of the season, we will need to go in the portal for 2025.

I’ll start by saying I don’t care if we use the transfer portal or not. I remember half my life Clemson averaged 6-8 wins a season. I will be a fan regardless. But if we do use it, we need to go all in on pulling Air Noland from Ohio state. Sayin transferring in after leaving Bama pretty much will force Noland out. I know we were on his radar for a while. If we don’t get him he will be on the UGA roster next year. Possibly starting after Beck leaves.

Hebert looks solid on film but I believe he’s coming off an injury and he doesn’t play any type of stiff competition.

Reynolds and the other kid they just got are in the same boat.

Vizzina was wayyyy overrated in high school and will never play any meaningful snaps at Clemson outside of injury.

The reason for the lack of big time QB recruiting is actually very simple… it’s the same reason we only have a commitment from one really good skill guy in this class in Gideon Davidson…

We refuse to use NIL to acquire (recruit) talent. This is out of Dabos own mouth. He said we use NIL to retain… not acquire.

Well Dabo that’s all fine and dandy but when you’re going to your 7/8/9 option on the board for offensive skill talent… that’s why we’re going to continue to struggle offensively going forward.

Without a generational talent at QB and Tajh under Dabo… we have struggled offensively but the difference now is that theirs no Venables around to bail us out.

When you refuse to use NIL to recruit talent you’re not going to get any 5 or even 4 star level QBs anymore which explains why we’re taking commitments from kids like Hebert and Reynolds bc that’s the level of kid we have to take bc we won’t use NIL to recruit or acquire the true talents at QB.

Yes they’ll be exceptions here and there such as Wesco and Moore… but with every passing year their will be less and less of those type of kids. That’s our problem and why we can’t even get in the discussion for any of the 5 star kids.

When we walk into a kids living room to recruit him… we say well if you come to Clemson you’ll have a chance to earn as much NIL money as possible… that sounds great BUT….

Then in walks Alabama/Georgia/Ohio St/Texas and they tell the same kid… we’re offering you 100K up front to sign with us… what do you think the kid is going to do? What do you think the kids parents are going to tell him to do? If you’re being honest with yourself… what would you tell your own kid or yourself to do in that situation?

Whether anyone likes it or not that is the way the recruiting game is played now and it’s fully legal. Why go to Clemson and have to earn anything when I can literally sign the dotted line and get paid right then and there at Alabama/Georgia/Ohio St/Texas?

The kids understand they could get hurt… they could have an accident they could get in trouble or any number of things… so why risk going to Clemson and having to earn anything when you can sign one piece of paper and get paid on the spot at Alabama/Georgia/Ohio St/Texas?

George MacIntyre is a highly rated 5 star QB in this class from Tennessee. He’s committed to Tennessee right now. Very few here would know that the kid really… really liked Clemson and wanted to heavily consider us… but then when we started to recruit him that’s what we told him… come to Clemson and you’ll have a chance to earn unlimited NIL…

Tennessee and others walk in right behind us and say… Son why risk anything at Clemson with no guarantees when you can commit to us right now and we got a bag with 100K in it? Those aren’t exact figures I’m just using that to make a point. I don’t know what the actual # was he was promised by Tennessee. But yall see my point.

I love Clemson and was raised to love them from the time I could walk and talk but if my kid is lucky enough to be heavily recruited one day… I would be a bad parent if I didn’t tell him to take up front money. As adults we know 100K ain’t life changing wealth but for a ton of these kids it is life changing money not just for them but for their families.

Money talks and BS walks and that’s the way it is now.
