I can see us getting the breaks we need to win the crappy ACC and then get absolutely humiliated by UGA in the 1-4 match up.
Where we are today is not where we are going to be. Teams get better including Clemson as the year goes on.
Sometimes if a team gets injuries to key players they "get worse".
In short my friend, "it's a long season" I wouldn't call it so soon. Not when every team in CFB has question marks!

I completely agree that teams improve, and we could be a championship team if we make it through NC State, Wake, Notre Dame, and a couple other ones. But as for question marks, what are you seeing for Georgia? I don't see any questions yet.

Like a lot of people on the board, I'm completely confused by your "Rocky III" and "Clubber Lang" references. I vaguely remember Rocky III as being where Rocky comes back from a Championship Loss to Mr. T to then win back his Championship from Mr. T. So, I assume you're predicting that we return to the CFB Playoffs and return as Champions. Right??? If so, who the hell is your equivalent to Mr. T??? GA, Ohio State, the Playoffs in general???
Don't remember a "Clubber Lang", but then it's been about 40 years since I saw the movie. Might explain some of your references, because the rest of us don't know what you're referring to!

And how about your reference to "Clubber Lang"? Is that a character in Rocky III, or some other reference I'm supposed to know about? I have no idea. Sorry, it's probably something I should comprehend, but I don't.
Also, I have a minor critique for future reference. First, I like your use of "allegory" to make a point. However, you now indicate that the beginning of Rocky III ("...got cocky, practiced lazy, and got knocked out...") as being your point. That's OK, but you provided no clue that you were just referring to the beginning of the movie. To me, if you refer to Rocky III, you are referencing the point of the entire movie (not just the beginning). And the point of the entire movie is that after Rocky "...got cocky, practiced lazy, and got knocked out...", he then made a comeback to regain the boxing championship from Mr. T!
Finally, if "I" was using Rocky III as a reference, I would have used last season as the "beginning of Rocky III." After all, we had been on top for the last 6 seasons (won 6 straight ACC Championships and went to 6 Straight CFB Playoffs). Last season is when we "...got knocked out..." This season hopefully is the end of Rocky III: we realize the errors of our ways (cocky, practice lazy, etc.); correct our errors (back to basics, practice hard, become focused, etc); and then we get back to the CFB Playoffs (at a minimum) and hopefully regain the Championship by knocking out Bama, Georgia, Ohio State, or whoever is in the Championship game! Of course, it remains to be seen if we have learned & corrected our errors, and if we get back to the CFB Playoffs (let alone the Championship game) this year

The Rocky III reference is that after becoming champion, Rocky went full hollywood. He's shown in the beginning doing commercials, going on the Muppet Show, and just being apathetic. Meanwhile. Clubber Lang is training because he's still hungry. He's saying that he thinks now that Dabo has made it, he's become apathetic and doesn't have the same drive and hunger he had on the way up.
