Potential WR Recruits

Jan 8, 2013, 9:10 AM

http://espn.go.com/college-sports/football/recruiting/databaseresults/_/position/WR/class/2013

* at some point in time, we had interest (and an offer) with Treadwell. Seems he's drinking the Ole Miss juice as well, but wonder if we backed off b/c of DRobinson. He looked solid in the All-American games and a big time receiver. One Jeff Scott phone call away from getting back into it?

* Jonathan Howard WANTED to commit to us but we filled up, so he chose UNC. He's more of a Mike W. clone so don't know if losing Robinson-Jenkins would make the staff take another look at hime

* how'd some dude (J Rumph) from Cayce, SC not get a look from CU? Starting to really dislike the JC transfer rules

* J Clark video outshines Jenkins big time. He's got GREAT game time speed. With a commitable offer from UF, does he go there and become their 6th WR or use common sense and become a starter here in 2014?

* '14 class is gonna be even harder to hold on to. Cook is talking to Miami. Watson-Kitt favor Clemson but Urban is a crook and both these guys list OSU # 2, it's probably 60-40 CU now, Watson suppose to be a mid year enrollee, and will really heat up in the next 6 months

the problem is not JuCo rules!! it is 100% barker.. that is the only problem with lots of the bad things @ Clemson.. if we are to reach the next level BARKER MUST GO!!

You don't have good information

The rule is that a player must have a certain percentage of their degree completed to compete as a junior. This is an NCAA rule and not a Clemson rule. Clemson is in the process of adding more majors to help with this but the problem is that many junior colleges do not offer similar enough majors to Clemson to transfer the credits. I know a Clemson athlete that had to take 44 hours in his first year at Clemson to be eligible the year after his transfer year. That means every juco player would have to redshirt automatically. They are not going for that deal anytime soon.

I like the way you think. Id like to see our recruiting really go hard after Treadwell and North right here at the end. Maybe get those two as a surprise on NSD! I think we have the best shot with North but we are slowly fading. We will defiantly have to fight to keep our 2014 class solid for as long as we have them committed. I think 2013 will be a great D class with hopefully a few additions like Adams and Mckensie at the end.

I agree, 2014 might be a rough road recruiting-wise. I'm not a huge Dabo guy but hopefully he can work some magic in his wheelhouse. He has limited value if recruiting falls off.
Clark seems small to me and the staff made another major goof on Howard.
The Chad's status and the power/money of the SEC (ie. in particular Ole Miss alums $$ and easier entrance requirements) are killing us in recruiting. Dabo is going to have to retool his strategy given the evolving dynamics.
He has to focus on Charlotte/NC more (replace Pearman with Elliott) and perhaps get out of the SEC power-zone for some players. It's great to be in the mix for these guys but we seem to lose many more than we win.
It is a good staff who generally recruit well so the trend is a bit disturbing and likely nothing much they can do this year given the situation other than press hard for the 3-5 key players we have legitimate shots at.

Of course you lose more than you get

Jan 8, 2013, 9:41 AM

The staff targets waay more players than they can sign and there are also about 50 other teams going after these same guys. If only half of those teams get one of our targets than we lost more than we got. Dumb statement...

your comment is truly dumb. my comment was not based on overall players we "recruit" but those who are elite and have us on the short list. If you can't understand that, you should not post and prove your ignorance of the situation.

what is your strategy since you are the self proclaimed genius? let me guess: I TRUST Dabo because he is a mini-god and does everything perfectly. I mean, he beat LSU so no one should ever question him again. And he will eventually beat the Dirt Peckers once Spurrier leaves..... probably.....well, maybe sometimes.
