Please keep my Ma-in-Law in your prayers. Just like I knew

would happen when the hospital sent her home into a house full of everybody with Covid, she now has it. She fell in the bathroom yesterday and busted her head open, and spent 9 hours in the ER getting looked at, stitched up, CT scanned, and sent home AGAIN.
She got checked for the Covid at a routine PCP appointment today, and came up positive. Finally, as well, the Doc sees that she has regressed badly in the last couple of weeks healthwise, and is going to assist us in getting Hospice for her, which we have been TRYING to have happen for awhile now. It has literally been like the half dead trying to take care of the 3/4 dead the last couple of weeks.
But, things are starting to look better, as all of us, other than her, are now over the Covid for the most part, finally. I just pray she gets over it, and that the rest of us do not get REinfected with it. I don't know if that is immediately possible, I sure hope not.

76er. So sorry for all the trouble your family has been through. Tough month here as well thanks to Covid and other issues. Glad you are improving and certainly hope your mother in law gets the best care possible.

I always say God will only give what he thinks we can handle. He must think we are REALLY strong as of late.

Prayers sent. Glad you're at least feeling better but sad that happened. It's tough to see a loved one die and not be able to do anything about it.

Wow, it's like we're living in a parallel universe, 76er....

My GF's 93 year old mother was living with her in Greenwood. I'm in Simpsonville, and I went down every weekend and spent it with them. She was spry and had all her faculties... perfect memory, quick witted... just a sweet, precious lady who was a joy to be around. Due to her age, we'd been extremely careful about Covid. Everybody got all of the vaxes and boosters, etc. Nobody wanted to be the one who brought Covid into that house and potentially give it to Miss Jean.
But she fell in the bathroom one night in early November, had a knot on her head and her knee was swollen. We thought that was all. Then her back started giving her pain, and x-rays showed a fractured vertebrae. So she went to hospice care and rehab, they fitted her with a back brace because surgery was out of the question at her age. Still, she was fine. But then several caregivers and patients got Covid, it ran through the facility. And she caught it...
She quickly got extremely sick and went downhill fast. High fever, cough, no appetite, quit eating, and just slept all day. She was dead in a week. Covid took her out. We are all still kinda in shock how fast she went from OK to struggling to planning her funeral.
I am hoping everything goes well for you, your MIL, and your family. You've been through the wringer lately.

Maybe I'm wrong, but my observation is that hospitals and healthcare providers don't like seeing sick people. They'd rather see well people, and for the well people to wait 6 months beforehand.
