1) the University Police don't make the laws, they just enforce them
2) Good, bad or indifferent, possession is still against the law and your opinion of the morality of the law doesn't change that
There's no excuse. Sammy, if guilty, will have to pay the consequence for his actions. End of story.
Making excuses or condemning the police is SOOO usuck.

The fans of any major college football program would act. It's so unbecoming.

Agreed, at the end of the day it is illegal.

I've made a couple of posts in regards to the fact that I think marijuana paranoia and stigma in America is absurd (especially in the light of continued cigarette use and the damage it causes).
But, it has not been made legal (yet), so there are ramifications to being caught with it. And there is a stigma in the public eye (which I contend far out weighs any damage marijuana causes, but this is neither the time nor place for that debate).
So, Sammy, sorry buddy, but you're going to have to take a few games off. Hate it for the team, but for team morale all players need to be treated the same (regardless of status with ESPN).
Bright side? Nuk had a heck of a spring. We'll be alright.

Hopefully only something like percocet or another ...

... pain killer. If you are found with something like that not in a prescription bottle with your name on it I think the police will become suspicious. Just ask Rush Limbaugh.
From past broken bone experience I can tell you that a percocet and and a gin & tonic makes you forget that you just broke your collar bone in two places trying to be all environmentally aware/correct and ride your bike to work only to get run off a rain slick road and lose control of the bike!
Did that sound bitter?
