Anyone know what happened with Elijah Henderson? He was a 2017 commit that was on the roster for this season but when I looked today, he's no longer listed. Local kid from Blue Ridge.

That’s a darn good question because I don’t remember him going pro or anything. In fact, d hood did a story last fall about him... or at least he was mentioned.
Thanks for asking. Hopefully someone will know. His stats were great!

There is nothing about him on any site he might have just stopped playing so he could focus on school

Lot of posts about Clemson sports. Strange. Hopefully one of our writers will know because his ratings are good.

Kid got redshirted. Coach Lee wants him to concentrate in the weight room to get bigger.

believe he is RS-ing. a RS in baseball is a little diff. doesn't count against the 35 man squad limit. can't work out with the team, only individual work with the coaches. we had several pitchers- matt clark, bo gobin, ryne huggins, andrew coker and travis marr all RS last year and move to the active roster this year. grant cox an IF, also RS but he may be "retired" due to recurring injuries.

Whether the redshirt counts against the 35 man roster depends on whether or not the player is receiving any scholarship money. Anyone who receives athletic scholarship money counts against the 35 man total, even if they redshirt. Essentially, if the young man is not listed on the roster, he wasn’t getting any baseball money. Baseball is allowed to divide their 11.7 scholarships among a max of 27 people. Those 27 must be declared on the first day of fall classes and they count even if red shirted, injured, etc. The other 8 spots are walkons. So, when we have 44-48 out there in the fall what you really have is 17-21 guys competing for 8 roster spots. In reality though, there are usually only 2-3 spots actually open. For example, in 2017, on Friday nights, we had 5 All ACC starters on the field who were getting no money. They obviously occupied 5 of the 8 available walk on spots. So last year all those extra guys out there were trying out for 3 spots, not 8.
