I’m disgusted. This is sick and the fact that Clemson is dragging its feet and obfuscating from firing these sick staff members has me in a rage.

You mean more than Kirk saying that we had to accept gun violence deaths every year so we can protect the 2nd amendment? He (and they) were ok when it was little kids so charlie died for his beliefs (those that live by the sword die by it) They should carve that on his tombstone

First I own 2 guns, shotgun and a handgun. I grew up hunting with my family, still do when the rare time allows for it. I am a registered Republican but sway libertarian because our government is worthless. I also have 2 kids, and it’s a terrifying thought them having to go to school. That should be a physically safe place for them to learn and grow and not worry if they’re going to leave there the same way they came in.

The thing that’s so infuriating about the gun debate is the lack of common sense from either side. Liberals want too much and conservatives want too little. It makes me sick every time we hear of one of these shootings only to find out the gunman was on “a watch list” and still bought a gun anyways! First off, if you’re on such a list how are you allowed to purchase a gun without so much as a pych eval or online background check? And after the fact we hear so much about these people being in extremist (liberal or conservative) online groups and talking flippantly about comitting violence towards others, you would think if we did a real background check that would surface. And second, who the F*CK is actually “watching” these people on the watch lists!?

Our media outlets and politicians have everyone running so scared of the “other” side that we’re now numb to the fact that our kids and people like Mr. Kirk senselessly lose their lives nearly every day to psychopaths who should not have access to any sort of weapon. Yet somehow after decades of this type of violence we still do because the grown “adults” we elect to act in our best interests are more concerned with super pac donations to get reelection and talking points than actually helping the American people.

I’m not naive, bad people will always find ways to do bad things. Criminals by their definition will break laws to aquire guns or other weapons to hurt people, but why is it such a difficult task to make that even a little bit harder for them to do? The US has been flooded with drugs for decades, through administrations from both parties and nothing has stopped it, yet we still actively try to prevent it and don’t just throw our hands up and say “oh well, drugs make them happy and that’s their right, to h*ll what it does to people around them” it’s no different with guns. They shouldn’t be banned or taken by any means, but if we should at least make sure they are going into the hands of competent, sane, law abiding citizens whenever possible

It's tough for sure.

Go the psych eval route where people have to get an evaluation prior to owning a firearm. Imagine all the malpractice suits and the increase in insurance coverage as "sane" people shoot others.

I do agree that background checks should come into play. That's tough too though - bc amendments keep the gov't from infringing upon inalienable rights, which means they cannot take them away. Restricting gun ownership does just that. It Not saying there isn't a way, but allowing the gov't to pick and choose when they can infringe is a slippery slope that may lead to gosh knows what in 50yrs.

The watchlist: who dictates those standards? Would it be possible that under a liberal regime, all Kirk supporters would be put on a list today in fear of retaliation. Would conservatives try to take guns from the liberal party and cite violence from ANTIFA? Venezuela did something similar in the early 2010s where they banned fire arms, collected them, then redistributed to only pro-govt citizens.

I want people to be safe... but I'm not sure that we're safer allowing the gov't to regulate us. Since COVID, and even a little before, the amount of over-reach is alarming. And the amount of people out there right now calling for death to conservatives, specifically the Kirks of the world, doesnt make me want to give up my arms at all.

TBH, it seems the more the gov't is involved and the more the media pushes certain narratives for ratings, the worse it gets. Could it be that people need to put morality back into play?

Dude you are taking those points completely out of context. If you followed his entire response you would understand there were much more nuanced than what you presented. But, that’s what people like you do . You just mirror what everyone you agree with regurgitates without having a clue what really transpired. Regardless of what he said no one should be murdered for expressing their opinions you piece of crap!

Sick, yes. I hate it. But it’s first amendment rights. I hate cancel culture so I don’t want to see conservatives engage in it.

We someone celebrates a death of an American that crosses into an integrity issue and whether you want that person working for your company. I don’t. If it was a more conservative person, celebrating the same thing, then they should lose their job as well.

No it doesn’t. But people being punished at work for being a jerk in their personal life is a bad precedent. I just look at a lot of things like this as slippery slope. Even his remarks that ,IMO, should be universally accepted as nasty are okay with some people. This standard in the hands of worse people can do a lot of damage. Imagine getting to a place you can’t voice controversial opinions without losing your job. I just think it undermines what Charlie Kirk was about. Just my opinion.

Melvin can be fired without naming a reason in this right to work state.

LOL, in a rage? Do you know how the world works? Or how the law works, more specifically? Or do you hate anything and everyone who doesn’t agree with your political stance? Acting on emotions is the worst thing anyone, let alone an institution, can do. Although it is quite popular these days on both sides.

I didn't even know who this guy was when i heard the news of what happened to him.

My response here isn't politically motivated. I believe in free speech and the freedom of having your opinion, regardless of which political side you pull for.

However, when you celebrate the death of another human being who died in this manner, in my opinion you are little better than the shooter and are equal with the man himself who had controversial comments.

I don't think i have ever seen a country so divided in all my life.

I’d say not expressing joy at a political assassination on a college campus is a reasonable requirement for someone in responsible charge of students in public education.
