Our basketball plan on offense?

Dec 1, 2016, 7:42 AM

I'm not well versed in basketball offense. Can someone with more knowledge please tell me what sort of offense we run?

My favorite play is when we stand still on the wings and only one person crashes the board after a random shot. That outta get the job done all year.

I get your sarcasm and why it can seem that way sometimes...

I'm not well versed in basketball schemes either, but our offense is based on lots of motion to get open shots. If you notice we try to pass the ball around the outside and setup a screen to open up a shot opportunity or a lane to drive into. The offense (in my eyes at least) relies upon players making plays, and being able to see an open pass when it is there or keep the ball moving when it is not. This is why we have been so lackluster recently on offense because our players just havent been terribly offensive minded, this year should be a bit different however. This is also why Brad is always shouting Move It! Move It!

We will also be looking to single out blossomgame one on one a lot this year so expect lots of screens setup to get him one on one in the low corner where he loves to operate from.

Just my thoughts

It's pretty clear that the guards are coached to not attack the glass. If you pay attention you'll see that the 4 and 5 crash every time and the 3 other players get back to play transition defense and prevent fast break lay-ups.

The offense involves lots of ball screens, motion, and freedom for players to make plays. Coach B is the one of the better X and O guys in the conference. If you want to watch a team with no offensive scheme watch Duke.

I say just take it to the hoop !

Drive like a man possessed, then as people collapse on you, you dish out to the open man, and chances are if you do drive to the hoop all the way, you will get fouled, and given we are shooting foul shots real well, its like "free" points. Works like 'butta !

our motion offense is built on read and react...

depending on what is happening is what our guys are coached to do... much more effective than "screen here everytime" or "cut everytime"

For example, if there is a cut above me, I fill up. If there is a baseline drive and I'm opposite, I fall to the corner. If there drive below me, I can relocate away, or fill behind...

I read what is happening and react within various parameters...

We normally open each possession up with a set as well, and if we don't get anything.. then get into our motion
