I agree, but at the end of the day these ratings are all just numbers made up by "experts" and some of these 3 stars are gonna be future NFLers and some of these 5 stars will be playing D3 by the time they are done. But yes, A top 10 recruiting class is ideal.

This is not true at all . Look at the teams competing for national titles and there is a direct correlation . Our recruiting has to be elite because Dabo refuses to use the portal like our opponents do . When you only get a couple to 3 portal guys then you better knock it out of the park recruiting and it is not happening. This 2026 class needed to be great after the 2025 flop of a class and it isn’t right now . This is sad reality

Agree with Lester, we need a deep run. It will help if our D is dominant and recruits get excited about the new coaching staff.
The last decade our class rank has been propped up by our D recruits. This cycle, Luke and Grisham propped us up.

A quick look back shows that Bama has been ranked in the Top 3 in recruiting in each of the last 5 years but has that guaranteed Championships? The answer is no and someone's choice of "stars" in recruiting is nothing more than an effort to make money. Don't fret over recruiting, Dabo is doing just fine.

No, but they are in the hunt generally. You recruit at the top you will be in the hunt generally. If you don't you won't be as a rule of thumb. Those rankings tell a lot.

People like to talk about how we didn’t have the top recruiting classes when we won national championships, but we had elite generational players at the most important positions (QB, WR, DE, etc.). That was the difference.
We don’t have enough of those guys now, nor do they appear to be in our upcoming recruiting classes.

We also had great classes every few years too, due to getting that elite talent here and there. We did have top 50 players. Top 10 players. We don't get top 50 players anymore. Really not even top 100. There is a night and day difference. Anyway, you are 100% correct.

I don't feel like looking them but on that but in that 44-16 blowout over Bama. Ross, Tee Higgins, Trevor, AJ Terrell, Clelin , Christian Wilkins, Austin Bryant, Isiah Simmons, Amari Rodgers etc...
What were those guys ranked generally outside of Trevor who was 1 overall? All those guys were top 100 and top 50.

It doesn't guarantee championships but it's a factor. Over the past five years Bama has one an SEC championship, won a national championship and played for another.

Look at UGA, Texas, and Ohio State and you see 3 examples of elite recruiting paying dividends. You won’t compete with these top tier programs without elite re recruiting . Our recruiting has been down for years now and the results on the field are showing it. Fact !

Missing out on Atkinson , Perry - Wright and both RB targets knocked us back.
That's unfortunate.
But what I mostly take away is we killed it on the O line and have more gifted receivers than you could shake a stick at.
Let's just go win the natty and they'll be knocking down our door next year

As long as we don’t miss on the QB then the other positions can be masked between cycles… As long as we continue to hit on our QB’s & do generally well on the lines w/ a couple of Top 100 WR/RB/LB/DB positions every cycle then we will be competitive for a natty every 2-3yrs due to our retention. That is a lot better than what most other programs can say these days & will work for me.

We built our first national title team under Swinney with classes ranked in that range. We had a couple top 5 class rankings during and after Lawrence, and did nothing with them. All it takes is a couple of really good players on both sides of the ball in each class , and addressing quality depth and needs to build a good roster. Lack of quality depth at DE and poor coaching at LB hurt us last year, or we would have beaten Texas.
After Lawrence, we missed on receivers, despite having top-ten class rankings, and it showed. Our online development was subpar, despite highly ranked recruits, and it showed.
We are in a good spot, and have 3-4 position coaches and coordinators that are at or near the top in the country. Our Oline and receiver recruiting has been spectacular lately. We have a several QB's lined up, but I believe Klubnick to be as good as any and gives us a shot this year. That will help us steal a couple of guys down the stretch. I think Chris Denson was a steal, he has "it"
Relax, we're in good shape. IThink about the Bowden era when we were happy to land more than three four stars in a class, let alone a five-star.

we wills see if any of these young dlinemen step up this year, there was a huge drop-off after our first unit in 2034. We are hurting at SDE, we do not have "that guy" after Heldt, and are 2injury two from some trouble at DE this year. I expect us to take no less than 4 transfers next year, all on the Dline. That will not be hard, a lot of elite teams are loading up here, and we will have the money going into 2026, and there will be the opportunity for immediate playing time. I trust this staff, especially with Allen taking over a D coordinator. I worry Good missed ona lot guys, and it set us back in our front 7.

I think you are underselling Mayo. He was raw coming in but if he develops like he should has the tools to be good. It also depends how Ari recovers from his knee injury. Guy had a lot of good offers. On the interior Adams will be a absolute stud.

We have a chance. Clemson has always thrived as a team with a couple of superstars and a TEAM of solid contributors and TEAM first guys.
Clemson will never be the place that has a top 5 class every year. Maybe once or twice every ten years but as long as we get a good mix of Stars, contributors, and underdogs we can be a championship caliber team.
Add on top of that the investment at the offensive line of scrimmage I think we will be more than ok moving forward. The line of scrimmage is and always will be where championships are won.

Well the last 2 years in recruiting have me concerned, there are no generational players and we are ranked 27th and about 15th -20th this year, is not what will get us to the championship game...
This years team which is 2021 class was ranked top 5 and thts what we are hoping for is a top 5 finish, but after this year Dabo might need to hit the portal because we have alot of holes to fill to graduation.

They corelate to how teams do overall though. You put together 4 top 5 classes in a row, youre probably playing for the National Title at one point and probably winning one or two. You get 4 recruitung classes in a row ranked 15th and its extremely unlikely that you will win a National Title, let alone play in the game at any point.

We also had the friends and family plan coaching staff for those highly rated classes while our lower classes were coached and developed by the best coaching staff in the country.
That matters bro. That’s why a lot of those top classes didn’t pan out. Dabo decided he had a machine and could just plug in anyone he wanted and keep rolling and he found out the hard way and we wasted those top classes.
But he appears to have fixed most of that now so hopefully we’re back to developing at the rate we were… pre… friends/family plan.

The NIL has obviously changed things and you can't go by what we did in the past. There was some big time recruits on those teams.

Two things:
ONE: The Blue Chip Ratio (BCR) is definitely a thing, and a team with less than 50% four and five stars won’t make the championship. I don’t know what ours is currently, but Dabo is usually above that for the last 10-12 years. Scar is below 50% so enjoy watching us this postseason.
TWO: What motivates a grown man (making an assumption here) to mask as a fan but is actually an opposing team’s fan that posts on their rivals board?! Grow a pair and identify yourself. You’ll get a lot more respect.

Be an interesting social experiment over the next few years. There’s not a ton of data on NIL era national champions Michigan was nowhere near top 10 classes on average for all four years when they won theirs. Top 15 classes and retention and development might be the secret sauce, we shall see.

Not on average, but they did in 2019 and 2020. Those would be the upperclassmen who won it all. That said, you are right they did do better than their rankings. They also had a bunch of top 50 players in there too though and players that were close. It just comes down to having a great base, then adding 4 or 5 studs is what can work too.

Not sure why anyone is down on the 26 class. Other than. yet another whiff by CJ at RBs, we have a monster class for OL, WRs and DL. me personally I will take it! Also, Grady Jarrett? swear. Hunter? Stars? hardly. Isaiah Simmons was a 3 star. Heck. some recruiting services even had ETN as a 3 and he was a fallback option for us thanks to Napier. Stars matter, it talent evaluation is what's most important.
