One thing that says a lot about the character of this team..

Dec 29, 2021, 10:30 PM

Not a single healthy player still on the team at the end of the regular season, opted out of playing in the bowl game! This, in spite of this season being below expectations and this not being a high profile game. Even when other teams who are playing in the New Year's Six, are having opt outs! That's makes me proud of this team!

true but the amount of portal departures is a concern give what we say our culture is and how we recruit all in guys who are great character individuals. yeah they are within their rights and the rules to leave. but the bottom line is it got tough or they werent getting the pt they should and they quit.

Our portal numbers are pretty much average

Of the guys who portaled out, do any of them play tonight? Ajou may have gotten a few snaps. Who else?

Bama is looking at 14 scholarships over the 85 limit come January. They're about to have a mass exodus

This is one of the things about the portal and players going to other schools I am unclear on. Are they letting their own player go; if a really good player from another team is available in the portal?

If the limit is still 85 then - what you would hope is much like it is in recruiting! That your primary competition's roster is full and they "can't take more"!

I have a sneaking suspicion as much as this is being praised for being a win for the player - that is going to be a big "L" for the players long term. Not renewing a scholarship; because you saw something with experience and shinier. Or a H.S. future NFL type talent that doesn't get an offer because of a portal transfer! Or a player that is promised NIL money and portals out - but never got a contract or anything in writing and gets left in the cold.

The Portal is a device that will ENCOURAGE the SEC's

"Oversign and Cull" philosophy. Wouldn't surprise me a bit to find that they had funded lobbyists behind the scenes to swing that court decision that made the portal and NIL happen at almost the same time.

And, anyone who thinks that Texas and Oklahoma moving to the SEC wasn't planned for awhile before anyone got wind of it is fooling themselves. Texas is bringing Oklahoma along for the ride, but make no mistake, that Big Oil Money in Texas is what is driving that bus. They are not going to be left behind when the NIL makes the SEC even more of the dominant super conference than they already are.

College football is gone as we know it in no more than a couuple years from now.

NEXT year may be our last, best shot at another Natty for awhile. Let us pray that Cade hits the ground running, just like Trevor Lawrence did. If so, we got a shot.

Striper, you are exactly right! And a guy like Lyn-J was

probably a distraction in the locker right...the running game got better once he was gone!

Great Post!

The whole college football world knows the issues Clemson is having from transfers to coordinator changes to, Ol play, QB play, etc.

For us to have Booth and Goodrich on the field was huge! A couple kids who will get drafted.

The SEC lovers on the board can talk smack about Clemson all it wants; but we graduate players and we typically have kids who go on and do big things outside of just football. Under Dabo - we win more often than we win too! You can't beat that and Clemson isn't going anywhere because we are made of the right stuff.

Go Tigers!
