is that illegal immigrants often aren't vaccinated and are bringing diseases into our country which were previously purged from our shores over the last century.

The slack jawed yokels who, following talking heads in the alt right movement, have become born again anti-vaxers are undercutting one of the best arguments against illegal immigration.

For centuries, migrants have been said to pose public health risks. They don’t.
The myth of the "diseased migrant" has fueled xenophobic immigration policies for centuries.


Also, I don’t think there are many people arguing for illegal immigration. The argument is to change the process so that people are immigrating here legally.

Of course there have been cases of immigrants bringing contagious diseases into the country. It’s important to screen for and identify those individuals so they don’t transmit the disease to others. It’s when immigrants as a whole are cast as disease-carrying as a measure to keep them out that is untrue.

Since the OP specifically addresses unvaccinated people, should we stop allowing anti-vax people to travel in and out of the country because they might spread diseases?

yes, I think we should require immigrants to be vaccinated and provide a physical to ensure they are not a financial burden due to their health

immigration, and of course there are people out there that do in fact argue for it. The fact that someone would defend or argue for illegal immigration bottles the mind, what a bunch of dipsh!ts.

Beat me to it also. The fact that we seem to need a debate about illegal immigration tells me how screwed up some people’s thinking is. Be legal or stay home. No discussion.
