For decades have competed with Nature "to be comfortable" as I sit on my ### on my porch.
Some days it is 200 degrees some days it is zero.
The deal is to be "comfortable" as tunes play too loud and the beer is too cold.
Right now it is 92, and I am happy. I am just using my swamp cooler, no need to crank up the air unit which is noisy. Doo Wop is playing. I have Beck's beer today which is good.
My bird feeders are never lacking birds. Late Summer and Fall is less birds as the woods are packed with things they like.

That all sounds silly, but I find many of the best things in my life are kinda silly. Putting "out sized" importance on silly things is one way to keep sane.
Serious people stress their system.
My porch gear is over the top with the best optics and computer gear. Football is crystal clear on my 32" high end monitor. Music videos look great. I have 60,000 of my favorite tunes in the computer, no junk.
The audio system out here is way beyond what most have inside.
If any possible improvement comes to mind, I improve.

I have been at this porch endeavor for over 30 years, so am kinda an expert.
Fall arrives in 3 weeks so thinking on colder days ahead. This hot Summer has been a challenge.
Over the years collected the best Winter gear available. I discovered best for sitting on you ### in Winter is what ice fisherman use. That is very different for activities with movement.
I had the "best" as I upgraded every year if new came out.
My Bride claims I have a glove fetish, but you need different things for different temps. The deal is not to be cold and not to sweat.

All my gear burned. I had more cold weather gear than LL Bean.

Rebuilding, I now have a better idea as to what things I need. No better time to shop for Winter gear than in Summer. I will have a lot less gear, but the best of what works on my porch.
I look forward to the Winter Challenge as the Summer Challenge (where I sit here neckid) has worn me down.

I had an over the top home that was round.
I rebuilt with a normal house as that was more quickly done. Speed was everything to me as I am old with less years ahead than most. It is a good house/home.

Having no home is unsettling, depressing, one just wants a safe place to defend. I can't explain it, you have to experience it.
My home now may be below neighbor hood standards in this wealthy neighborhood, but is nice and comfy.

My lake land is worth a lot, could have sold and bought a huge house.
I just wanted to go back to my home, and I did. I am not popular here, but ??

I have not had a mortgage payment in 30 years, so their is that.
My advice for most is --
Plan early and maybe it will pay off if you survive to an older age.
