Can't help you on the food and bourbon but when we played them on a Thursday night the horse track was open across the street from the football stadium and if you've never been it might be something to see. My guess is that they will be racing again.

I've never found the tour guides or anyone else trying to "Sell" me.
I've found all are very proud of their history and the origin, their process and product.
I highly recommend Buffalo Trace for their history and the beautiful location. Plus, you're likely to get something pretty good.
I also recommend Willet for the Food first, then Bardstown, then Makers Mark (Starr Hill Provisions).
Bonus: In Louisville, there is a great bar called Troll Pub Under the Bridge, it closes around 9 though so go early. From there, just get over to East Market St near Clay St, and you'll find plenty of great Bourbon bars and restaurants.

There are lots of reasons to go to various distilleries but do yourself a favor and make sure you visit Willett, Maker's Mark and Buffalo Trace. I could give you tons of smaller ones but those have history and great juice. The tours are very nice at all of them.

Angels Envy tour was good. Momma’s Mustard BBQ was pretty good. I also enjoyed Louisville Slugger factory as well as Churchill Downs races on Saturday after the game. Lots of history in Louisville. If you like Irish pubs check out O’shea

Currently living in Simpsonville, but my wife is from Louisville. The Heaven Hill experience is awesome. If you’re driving up, youll pass by Jim Beam, which is the most beautiful property of all the distilleries, especially this time of year. Michters and Peerless are obviously fantastic but the downside is they are in downtown. Skip out on Buffalo. Frankfurts about an hour out of the way and it’s very touristy.
We usually save our calories for Bourbon intake, so your on your own for food recommendations.

It's about a 30-minute drive south of Louisville but well worth the time.
No trip to Louisville is complete unless you also take in Churchill Downs, the Louisville Slugger Bat Factory, and the Ark Encounter in Williamstown, KY. The Ark is about 85 miles northeast of Louisville but, again, well worth the time.
