It was explained on TV, the ball only has to get back the last link in the chain, not the post in order for it to be a first down.

The last link in the chain = where the pole starts.

Not necessarily. There is a hook on the end usually. Either way that ball wasn't touching the stick

Rule 1, Section 2, Article 7a:
The yardage chain shall join two rods not fewer than 5 feet high, the rods’ inside edges being exactly 10 yards apart when the chain is fully extended."

Basically states that 2 rods no taller than 5 feet are connected by a chain so that the inside edges of the rods are exactly 10 yards apart. You have to make it to the sticks. Not last chain link. It wasn't a 1st down.

I hate when people have a point to make, but don't provide the point or a link in their post. Something a trashy coot would do. Stay classy Tiger posters.

That game was lost on the last leg humper offensive series. First and goal then trying to get cute. Bobo should be run out of town, and if Richt wont do it he should be run out of town.

Bobo = Rob "bubble screen" Spence
Sep 13, 2014, 11:03 PM

Bobo remind me of Rob Spence. He has the best run game in the country, and the ability to degrade any defense in his path. Instead he tries to throw screens with a QB that just isn't a road warrior.
Reminds me of Spence trying to get cute with Proctor instead of running Spiller and Davis against VT in 2006.

VT was a good team that year and just manhandled Clemson that year. The bowl game against Kentucky was a different story. They were last in the country against the run and we had Spiller and Davis. Decided to showcase Proctors arm in the game and we lose. Ran out of bounds on the 2 point conversion. Anyone involved in coming up with that game plan should have been fired that night.
