Sean McDonough ABC

Is the biggest Syracuse homer ever! As an alum he should not be allowed to call their games. He questioned every call and was pulling for Syracuse the entire game.

It’s just a bigger issue with the media in general.
It used to be that our media would just report the facts in an unbiased way.
Now, they choose sides and act as if they’re unbiased. But they’re not. And too many stupid people in this country don’t understand that they are not getting an unbiased, fact based view of what’s happening.
I agree that Sean McDonough shouldn’t call a Syracuse game. But as far as I can tell he’s done it many times. Because ABC/Disney just doesn’t care.

I thought he did a decent job of being unbiased most of the game but yes there were a few times he couldn’t hold it back. Especially at the end when Dino waited 20+ seconds to call the timeout. He was noticeably upset lol.

Oh good grief. He pointed out the obvious, and followed it with criticism that Dino is known.for not being a good manager of the clock. Dino absolutely blew 20 seconds off the clock. He could have called TO at 1:54 and stupidly let 20 seconds run off and THEN called the TO. It was obvious to everyone he screwed that up. What is McDonough supposed to do? Not recognize the obvious?
If you or anyone else else is going to say he is biased, please come up with a valid point. I swear, some people on here just look for reasons to be offended.

Did you not read my post? I said he did a pretty good job. Go back and listen to his voice. It was more than just pointing out a stupid call.

Normally, that is true

He was getting pretty irritated during the second half yesterday and it showed. He wouldn't let the called/uncalled out of bounds hits go. He even got the crew to put together a split screen view to point out what he considered to be unfair calls. This morning, he has the rest of the lemmings at ESPN falling in with him suggesting that the refs altered the outcome of the game in our favor.
I'm guessing you were at the game and didn't hear it.
You're right about the way he normally calls a game. I'm just not sure I've ever heard him call a Syracuse game before

He called the Syracuse - Clemson game several years ago when Syracuse presented him with some kind of broadcasting/journalism award.
Calling one of those penalties and not the other is a very valid point to discuss during the game and the split screen showed why. I thought they should either both be called or neither. Probably both. Our player (not sure which) had his hands on the QB inbounds and then gave him a push after he was clearly out of bounds. Their player did not have hands on CK inbounds and gave him a shoulder shove when he was clearly out of bounds. So, there was a slight difference, where initial contact was made, but both shoves occurred out of bounds.

I did not see where he was overly biased. He is an alumni and fan. I would expect him to be a little biased. I would if I was calling a Clemson game. I like The team of McDonough, Blackledge and McGrath. Better than 90% of the other broadcasting teams.

It did come through there at the end a little but I don't blame him. He is one of my favorite PBP announcers. He calls a game with better emotion than almost anyone. Will never forget the epic Ga Tech game where Dantzler led us to victory in Atlanta. That final okay was called perfectly by McDonough! TOUUUUUCHDOWWWN!

Anyone noticed when he put Blacklege on the spot asking him “if Syracuse is now considered legit?” I think it was at halftime. Blacklege seemed unsure of an answer?

LOL I watched the replay when I got home from the game and loved hearing the agony in his voice as he called Ship slamming the dagger through his teams heart.

Networks have multiple broadcasting teams to choose from for each game. WHY choose a group with a graduate of either of the competing schools??? I’m talking about Herbstreit calling an Ohio State game too. Doesn’t need to happen. I’ve stated this to my husband many times. Is it possible these broadcasters request to announce the games sometimes when their alma mater is playing?

Shipley's 50-yard TD and the game-sealing interception are both examples of his showing unbiased excitement for what is happening on the field.
