What's more stupid? App tiger, a coot grad, or a bucket of poop?
I think we all know the answer to this one.
I think I finally realize why people liked Purnell so much despite him never winning a tourney game, and rarely upsetting a good team. It's because our basketball fan base is extremely uneducated and you all prefer a hectic, helter skelter game with no real strategy except for pressing , rather than a team that slows it down and runs good offensive sets.

Passing it around to see who gets to launch a 3. If you happen to be hot that day, you might win! Yay!!
And here’s a little tidbit for you from an “uneducated” basketball fan: Pressing is a helluva strategy when you practice it and know what you’re doing. Ever heard of making the opponent uncomfortable?

This bozo thinks scoring droughts are unique to us. You continue to show your ignorance 1 post at a time. Sad.

Scoring droughts might not be unique to Clemson but Brownell has mastered the technique.

Because then when you finally score, you totally catch them off guard and they are rattled!
Can’t believe more coaches haven’t thought of this.

Yeah pressing is so good of a strategy, look at all the good teams that are deploying it! Can you name a consistently good team that presses 100% of the time? It was a strategy that helped us compete with teams more talented sometimes, but couldn't win the big game. Similar to a Paul johnson offense, if a team had time to prepare, we were done. See losing to a lower seeded team in all 3 of the ncaa appearances under Purnell.
And this post really illustrates how uneducated our fan base is. If you truly watch brownell's teams and come away that our offense is "passing it around to see who can launch a 3" then you're an idiot. Simple as that.

You’re comparing it to Paul Johnson’s offense?

Hmmm… think GaTech would like to have him back right about now???
Yeah, thankfully Venables figured them out after a few years. But not many teams ever wanted to play against them.
And yes we pass it around and launch 3-pointers.
That’s why BrownL’s postgame press conferences are always either “we made shots” or “we just didn’t make shots.” No shyitt, man. I’ll do that for a whole lot less than $2.5 Million.

Lmao. Where is Paul johnson now? Where is Purnell now? Oh.... they both aren't coaching anymore. I wonder why that is? Also, if his system was so good, why are literally no coaches replicating it? It's because it was a gimmick offense that couldn't sustain success.
I guess we are pretty good at 3's if that's all we do! We are tied at the top of the ACC in assists per game.
In all seriousness.... time to debunk your incredibly stupid and uneducated inference. We make an average of 17.5 2 pointers a game, compared to an average of 8.9 3 pointers a game. Bothe percentages are near the top of the league. Not bad for a team that only passes it around to "launch a 3"
Do you now understand how talking to you about basketball is like talking to a rock? Incredibly misinformed.

If you have to convince us it’s a good product by spouting off statistics until our eyes glaze over… Then guess what… That’s why fans aren’t interested!
And it hasn’t always been that way at Clemson. Those of us who have been around a while have seen much better times.

These statistics completely contradict the narratives that you spew daily.
Do you live in an alternate reality?

I live in the reality of a fan of a sports team.
No one should have to be a forensic statistician in order to figure out if their team is fun to follow.

I don't care whether you think this team is fun to follow or not.
The fact of the matter, you said our offense is simply, "Passing it around to see who gets to launch a 3."
I understand you are exaggerating a bit, but you have said this for years. That is not close to true. Watch the game tonight and look at all the movement from our players without the ball. Brownell runs a motion offense but also incorporates screen and roll, and dribble drive schemes. It's a very good half court system and normally produces enough open shots to win the game. That is what brownell teams do, we slow it down and try to beat you in the half court. We try and limit transition points. This is why we rarely crash the boards offensively (which is frustrating at times). If we make our open shots, we typically win the game or are at least competitive. If we don't, it could be bad. See SCAR and Loyola Chicago.

The daily negative basketball coaching post. Obviously has never watched a game or knows anything about the program. Just has a fatal case of BDS — Brownell Derangement Syndrome. You think you’re cute. You’re not. Go back to the Lunatic Fringe Clubhouse and debate who was Clemson’s greatest quarterback.

Sadly, there are times when Brownell bball and bricklaying

have a whole lot more in common than watching paint dry. And in the Loyola game, it wasn't just that we missed, it was that the mechanics of the shot being hoisted up were so painfully forced and off, that you knew before it even left the players hand that it hadn't the chance of a blue fart in a whirlwind of being successful.

No off bights are allowed by brownell coached teams. Completely unacceptable.
